I just got my scoot back with new barrel, piston, rings , exhaust cam bracket(it lies on the cam-I don't know the proper name ).EDIT:rocker arm
Plus used head, as the old head, the mackie showed me serious cam bearing housing wear on the exhaust cam side.
He showed me that oil does not get there in sufficient quantities, a design flaw for this model.
Anyways, my main question is :what is the correct running - in procedure for this engine 2010 efi xciting 500ri.?

De dee says ride it like you just stole it! I have just ridden mine. Change oil frequently at first. Many posts on here about this very subject.

Vary your speed for the first 1000 miles. Don't ride above about 65 MPH, and don't tour at high way speeds for long distances at the same speed. Then change oil to mobile 1 15/50 and never look back. :-*

:D To each his own way of doing it, it seems, the rocker arm lies on the cam to work the valves, that is what needs adjusting every so often, Damn it snows every day it seems, Mr. sunshine please come back,. and a white Xmas to all even you southeners from the great white north,

Does the head need further tightening?

I do not recall seeing mention of this in most new scooter service schedules .....while many state that the valve lash clearances are checked at that "all important first 600 mile service".
Would this be the same on a rebuild?

Could not hurt to retorque the head at 600 miles. That retorque philosophy was from the days of thick headgaskets. These head gaskets are very thin and probably don't compress that much.
