Downtown 300 / Re: How to access the power jack fuse?
« on: July 12, 2016, 02:03:35 AM »
I just added a Water tight ATM fuse holder. Buttoned it all up with a 5 amp fuse to find out, on the 2011 model at least, the adapter is ignition controlled. So it looks like I will eventually have to do an under seat 12v access for both a charger and heavy enough lines they could be use do jump start.

Nice having extra light my concern would be taking away from the front turn signal visibility from how bright these are.

300 Km sound safe, but it counts on how good your bike does on MPG. I am good here to about 201 Miles or 340 Kilometers. Usually though I only go about 100-110 Miles just to be safe. With the new screen again this may be altered somewhat.

Use the Rain-X for plastic, I also use the Rain-X cleaner too. Yes it is true the original over time can cause hazing. As a side note also treat the headlight covers as they can then spread off the moisture as well.

Edit; I rode a bit tonight and what a difference. I did not have to put on a jacket just because the sun went down. Also riding for a bit I realized the hand guard area could be used as a dash panel extension and maybe a GPS and/or Cell mounts could be added. Definitely what should have been on these bikes all along.

Ok, got the new screen in. With out a doubt it is taller. During a short ride I have noticed if I sit with proper posture then I slightly look over the screen, without trying to sit erect I look threw the glass.

At 30 MPH and above there is a slight whistling and at 40 MPH it is a solid whistle. This does though move allot more air than the old screen. Riding at 65 MPH there is little buffeting of air, where as there was a fair amount before. I also in stagnated air at WOT got to 89-90 MPH, so it does seem there is a slight drop of 2-3 MPH. I did notice 65 MPH was now 6,000 RPM instead of 6,100 as before, this was not expected.

I may later decide to cut thee screen down a bit, but I will live with it for a while as is to see what might be best.

As a side note though the Givi screen is due in today. I just got 80MPG from a fueling but I will probably get less in the future so I won't be able to make comparisons.

I thought of painting the box here as well but in the end I liked the pure black, looks great though.

My suggestion for when it rains is to use Rain-X.

My guess is if it only disappears while the engine is running then the fuel recirculation system has an issue. This then may have to do with an emissions control system. Again this is only a guess.

Good to hear it suits you well. I ordered mine but with the knowledge that thee Dremmel Tool and cutting wheels may be getting some work. That is fine as I love he handle bar coverage but I knew it was too tall.

Other than the Kappa logo it looks to be the same. Thanks for the pic, it seems to be a bit higher than I want and I may have to cut it down a bit. I would be fine about 2" higher than stock but I understand it is 6" higher. I want to keep the top of the plexiglass slight below eye sight.

I think that isw it, though maybe a repackage. D294ST is the proper model number too.

I never changed mine out. When I put in the sliders I left the stock ones in.
