If you do ride, consider wearing a medical bracelet possibly so if something did happen, any first responders may know to treat you specially. I remember being on plavix for 1 month after stents and it seemed I little pinpricks of blood oozing from a bruise.

No seriously. I believe BANDO makes some Kymco belts. I practically just got for $34 what the dealer wanted $65 for. I believe some Kymco belts come with BANDO printed on them. The Parts for Scooters BANDO belt was $30 but 1mm longer than spec.

My old BANDO belt is in still pretty good shape after 3-4 seasons but I like to replace it for a bit of peace of mind and its nice to have a spare as I do carry the tools to replace it on the road if I have to but I do have Progressive towing insurance.

But coming across one of Zombies old post, he describes the ridiculous mark ups on these Asian scooter parts.

Now if you really want to see markups, take up New England SCUBA diving all year round. I miss it but glad I'm not forking out that money any more. $180 for a pair of rubber glove system-   shorturl.at/gyD01  -was just one item that was essential if you wanted to use your hands to drive home.

We are not buying SCUBA equipment here ; its a belt and IMO $65 + plus for a 737 belt is ridiculous markup.

I like to replace my belt every 3 seasons. And I want to get the 23100-KEB7-900 which is a 737 x 18 x 30 belt. So I called our dealer in Groton, CT and they did not have the belt.

But..... they had a Kymco order going out soon and I could get my belt with that order. So I asked the price:

Well its suddenly now a special order that will be $65 plus tax. ????

Just funny how an order going out soon becomes a special order. I politely told them it was too much for me.

I would get one from my favorite scootertunning.ca but I don't know the quality of the Gates Motoforce belts they have.

Let me ask, would a 738 x 18 x 30 from parts for scooters suffice being a mm longer?

I've located a 728 x 18 x 30 belt and will get it tomorrow.  1mm diff shouldn't be too bad. Actually the stock belt only has a P/N but my belt that on there now is a 728 x 18 x 30 Bando.

Actually, I just took off my cover and the stock belt is 728 mm not 737. So now a 10mm diff just under a half inch may be a bit more dramatic. I'll edit the original post.

Just browsing for a new belt. The S8 uses a 728 mm stock belt and this website has no 728's but have plenty of 738's. Would using a 1mm longer belt make a diff. providing the width is still 18 mm and V-angle 30 ?

Also, if I go to racing planet and run my model of scooter, some of the belts that come up are in the range from 737 to 748 mm with slightly diff. V-angles. So I have to assume 1mm will be no real diff and should grab this one along with new clutch pads.

Did you dis-assemble the engine and rebuild it after the failure?  You don't want metal bits remaining in the crankcase.

Yep oil pump cam is withing marks. Replaced with a HOCA piston kit. Working nice after 2k miles so far but wondering if I should maybe some how add a factor of safety in there.

Its been about 2k miles since I re-did my top end after either a wrist-pin or a small end bearing failed after 6k hard miles. So now that I am working on my scooter again while working reduced hours I am wondering what caused the initial failure.

Some questions come to mind: Would upjetting for more lubrication help with the prevention of a circlip or small end bearing failure ? Could a lean condition have caused the failures. when there was no signage of seizing soft or hard?

I don't know exactly what part actually failed as the small end bearing  disintegrated along with one of the circlips.

The scooter is running well now after 9k total miles and wonder if a little extra lubrication from an upjet would add a factor of safety to prevent a wristpin(circlip) or small end bearing failure.

Then the question is: how is the small end bearing lubricated in a 2 stroke motor since its at the bottom of the piston ?

Im in CT and got the exhaust in 22 hours from order. These parts were just shipped out and will be here Wednesday. They also provide you with good tracking info. And we all know whats it like to have scooter parts go to mars and back and have to go through Martian Customs before arriving at our door steps.

Time to do some catalog browsing for a nice package of parts once these new ones are installed.
