People 150 / Looking for new rear shocks

I have a 2004 People 150 with 19k miles. The rear shocks no longer do their job. What are my options for after market shocks at ~$150 for a pair. I would appreciate any ideas.

Here's my 18-year old People 150 painted up for the local Memorial Day Parade. Scoot was a popular candy hauler. Thankfully, the tempera paint came off easily ::).

People 150 / Running rich

I bought and refurbished a tired 2004 Kymco People 150 with 18,000 miles as a winter project. Surprisingly, the carb was new, but I removed and disassembled anyway. It was clean inside. The scooter starts and runs well when cold, but gets a rough idle and runs very rich mixture when warm. It does accelerate strong so the engine is fundamentally sound. 
I sprayed starting fluid on the vacuum hoses looking for a leak but nothing happened. Next up is checking the float level. Because it rather suddenly starts running rough, should I suspect the auto bystarter might be bad?
Any suggestions on what next?

People 150 / Clock battery

The clock is not attached to the motorcycle battery, but runs off a button battery. Another post on this forum correctly states that the battery is an LR43 (Maxwell brand). A modern replacement is a Duracell 301/386 cross referenced as SR43.

The clock is accessed after removing the front handlebar cowling and loosening the dash assembly. Be careful with the screws and tabs. So much plastic to break.

Once the rectangle underside of the clock is exposed, unscrew and remove the one screw on the right side of the panel. Pick out the panel,  rubber mat and clock mechanism. Removing 4 super tiny screws allows the back of the clock mechanism to come off and the battery is there to pick out.

I'm reviving a 2004 People 150 with 18k on it. These forums are great..
