General Discussion / Re: Kymco 200i Petrol Pump failing
« Last post by Ruffus on May 05, 2024, 09:01:31 PM »
@fneijts welcome here!
As Stig suggests pls give details of your scoot.

-are we talking about an in-fueltank pump?
-was the whole pump replaced or the motor only?
-bench testing requires a fully charged battery or workshop tester
-fuses are to be replaced
-cables to and fro pump checked for broken insulation?

Side By Side / High RPMs low Speed issue
« Last post by Mwarner on May 05, 2024, 08:57:47 PM »
I am a new to all of this. Just got a new 2023 Kymco 700i LE. Took it out for the very first time. Couldn't get over 20 mph but the rpms were running very high. Is this a normal break-in occurrence? Emergency brake is off and seat belt was on.

Technical | How To / Re: Battery tender connection
« Last post by Stig / Major Tom on May 05, 2024, 03:54:34 PM »
Good work!
Geez, - can't believe they're still building machines like this. A battery should be easily accessible!
I've only had 4 scoters, by four different manufacturers, but each had batteries that were easily accessible behind a small panel with a screw or 3. Placing a battery tender on each was easy.
My only complaint about my Liberty is that it uses a small 6Ah battery - and the battery box is too small to install anything larger.
My Kymco came with an 8Ah battery - which I've replaced with a 14Ah Yuasa. Miles from home - on cold, dark, winter and/or rainy rides I want a sure start when time to go home!

Technical | How To / Battery tender connection
« Last post by mrmike on May 05, 2024, 03:05:10 PM »
On my new '23 People Sport 150i ABS the front cover has to be removed to access the battery. Rather than doing this every fall, I came up with this solution. I drilled a small hole in the top of the little compartment (glovebox?) on my scooter. I then shortened the Battery Tender connecting wires. I routed the wires through the hole and connected to my battery. Now to charge the battery, I only have to open the door and connect the Battery Tender. The compartment is small but will still hold my cell phone and garage door opener.

Cleaning out the garage this weekend and came across some parts for a 2011 Downtown 300, and ran across these.  All or none.  These are for free for pick up near Boise, ID.   Otherwise, they'll be headed to the curb in a week or so.

These consist of:

1x Tail Lower Cover (not sure of P/N, but it's the larger plastic piece that includes mounting for the license plate)
1x Top Handlebar Cover (again, not sure of P/N, but it's the large plastic piece that covers the top of the handlebar)
1x Set of floor mats   P/N 64320-LEA7-E00-N1R and 64340-LEA7-E00-N1R
1x Oil Cap Spring   P/N 15423-KKC3-900

I have never in all my years had this much trouble locating a carburetor for this quad. It's a 270 and it sat for 3 years with bad gas in it. I need a replacement carburetor.  Where and what part numbers please?

Seems electrical.
I'd want to look at the 10amp fuse, the battery leads/posts, the ground cable to frame connection, etc.
Then I'd contact Hi Flo and ensure that you are using the correct pump with the correct resistance.

More info on you scooter...miles. year, LIKE200I??, or?

General Discussion / Kymco 200i Petrol Pump failing
« Last post by fneijts on May 04, 2024, 02:16:24 AM »
Hi All,

I have a Kymco 200i for a few years now. We went on holidays for a while and parked the scooter for that time. When we came back the petrol pump did not work anymore. I replaced it and worked fine, however the next morning it no longer worked anymore and found that the new petrol pump also had given up the ghost. I thought that perhaps I had done something wrong and thus ordered another new petrol pump and repalced it again. This time I was very careful making sure that ewverything was done properly. Everything worked fine. Checked the next morning and yes it still worked.
When two days lated I picked up the scooter to go somewhere it had stopped again with teh petrol pump gone again. I have no idea what to do next as I cannot see how this can happen. I have taken the pump out and tested on teh bench and definately the pump is gone. How can this be with the scooter turned off. It is only 12 volts and it does not make sense?

Has anyone seen this before???

General Discussion / Re: Luggage Rack For Kymco Kpipe?
« Last post by randyo on May 04, 2024, 12:55:53 AM »
another project of mine that hasn't happened yet, I want to replace the stock saddle with a solo saddle, and custom rack behind it.

my more immediate project is installing the steering damper I bought for it, with my 190cc engine, frame stiffness has become a concern, just got it out of barn and started her up for the first time since October, this afternoon
