Grandvista 250 / Re: I just have a trip from Seattle, WA to Perris, CA
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:05:14 PM »
Hello all. I'm back. My girl in Moreno Valley, CA told me her GV250 is now 5000 miles and still running good. She is crusing on hwy 215 everyday, 50-60 mph without any problem. She just changed oil and air filter last week. Sparkplug was still ok. For me, GV250 is a wonderful scooter to ride around even out of state. It's amazing! Grasp it if you have a chance. ;D

I don't just rev up max cause preserving the engine. When I had a trip fro Seattle to Perris, CA. I mostly rode around 55 to 50 mph on hwy 101 and cruised all day from 8am in the morning till mid night without any problem! I had it from 20 mile odormeter until now 2500 miles, still running awesome in CA, reporting from my girlfriend.

Update on not starting. After trying to just let it warm up and it still dying every time I gave it even a little gas, my brother and father feel it is a throttle issue and needs a carburetor cleaning. Since I don't know anything about mechanics, I'm going to let them do whatever they want.

Just be patient with your bike, you will appreciate it ride. If the first one caused you trouble, then sell it to buy another one. I had experience myself.

Grandvista 250 / Re: GPS mount for GV250
« on: September 03, 2011, 10:10:50 PM »
was the ram reservoir cover a generic or custom version?  The brake reservoir on the GV looks tiny compared to the clutch/brake reservoir on my BMW K1200LT.  I have the same set up on my motorcycle and I'm guessing the adjustable mounting holes on the cover would work on the smaller GV reservoir.  How does it look?  can you post a pic?

thanks

It's a generic one. Adjustable mounting hole. At first I saw the picture on the Ram website and check for pdf instruction for size (I guessed adjustable hole). Immerse yourself into those links to custom your mounting like on your bike.

Hi all,

If it's not dangerous then we don't like to scoot around or far...far...away. ;D

It's happen to me once when I twisted the gas handle too much (cause of the cramp buster took out from the handle) then I press hard almost ten times but my GV250 2009 didn't start. I left it for couple of hours then I did press the starter butter and engine reving up. From my experience you just leave it there and go for a shopping or a coffee for couple of hours then return to start it again. If the scooter is old, just change the spark plug and air filter. That's the basic thing to do. If it is not start consult the fix manual though. Good luck :)

Grandvista 250 / Re: Riding in the rain

Hi there,

You guys remember to wear warm clothes, fill up your stomach with hot stuff before riding. Use GPS to avoid highway. I did a trip with my GV250 2009 from seattle to Perris (close to River side) 1500 miles and really fun. Don't take the freeway, it's fast and boring. Highway or back road take long but fun and beautiful landscape (I don't know what's in your area). In the rain just be a bit careful, that's all. You will adapt to it as I did.  :)

I would not buy another one. A bigger bike maybe. Anyway, I already experienced with GV250, it's definely a cool scooter despite of speed limit. I bought it through craiglist only 12 km and $2900. It's for my girlfriend in Seattle but she moved to CA and she begged a favor of me to bring it to her. First I planned to ship it but I had to drain all oil out and cost $500 for shipping then I though why not took her for a ride, then memorial day came up... So I did as my mind told me, awesome trip!. A little bit scary when on Hwy 101 20 miles closed to golden gate bridge, cars ran over 70 mph and mine lingered at 50-55 mph. I didn't push her over 60 mph because you know, engine reserved... Scooter still run good as my girl report to me from CA 2100 already. Good scooter!
As I remembered on the second day, rain all the way and I rode her all day from 8am in the morning until 9pm and the scooter still responed good the next day. I am still flowing with my thought...

Grandvista 250 / I just have a trip from Seattle, WA to Perris, CA

A trip from May 29th, 2011. My GV250cc was new only 300 miles on it. I put 20w50 oil and check everything before I go. What a trip! I rode along Hwy 99 then 507, to Hwy 101 (oregon) mostly rain and cold, passed golden gate ($6.00 for a pass) then Hwy 1 (CA) to reach Big Sur but I had to reroute because of rocks fell down the road. I took Cammel valley and back road to Hwy 198, then 33 (chevron oil facilities, smell bad) to santa barbara, followed hwy 1, throug Los Angeles city roads to Perris. It took me 3 nights and 4 days to reach the destination, 1500 miles total. I rode average 40-45 mph average, but usually 50-55 mph except pass through town 35 or 25 mph. It's fun but you need to plan ahead. I don't plan ahead so I got frustrated sometimes to find a motel (cheap price) closed to San Francisco ($160 a night) but I got GPS to find a motel 6 ($76 a night but I negotiated for $46 when I came around midnight)...Overall it's worth the adventure! If I have a chance, I would ride again. ;D

Now I left scooter for my girlfriend in Moreno Valley (closed to Perris,CA) it's 2000 miles already. I changed motorcycle oil 20w50 (Valvoline brand, bought in walmart) hot weather so that oil would be ok. I also change gear oil. plan to change spark plug and air filter but don't have a chance. I took a plane back to Seattle on June, 15. Well, feel good. Now I have to go to find a job for a new chapter but still looking. ::)

Thanks for the info.

my GV250 2009 is hard to start and the idle speed take a while to stabilize to 1 stem on odometer (2 stems when start, sometimes 3 stems after riding 1 hours and restart then stabilize to 1) I didn't ride the whole winter (5 months) it only has 350 miles. Should I put sea foam (addictive bottle that sale at Walmart) in gas tank? Do that cure my GV symptom? Thanks for an advice.

I have GV 250 2009 and it has 300 miles on it. I ride normal 35-42 miles average on street but I sometimes press hard to 60 miles for about 10 minutes, feel so good. I don't know press hard does affecting the engine later on or stay on man. recommendation but I feel good!  ;D

Urbestfriend has recently installed the new seat.
Slightly Small, but getting used to it.

Nice seat. I imagine that I can sleep biking on it. What a queen seat! comfortable though.

where do I get seafoam? What's the acting symptom of the scooter to consider to use seafoam? Put in gas or oil, which one better? If gas then which part clean? how about oil? Thanks for info.
