Xciting 400i
« on: May 22, 2018, 12:44:45 AM »
Rather new dealer in Chandler Arizona. Saw they had a new 400i for sale. Went and looked at it Friday. Beautiful black model. Seat height was 32 inches, (my 2007 is 30.5). 400i seat is softer, so when setting on it the seat compresses down to about the same height. Handle bars about 1 inch or so closer, and that is fine with me as the 500 bars always needed to come back about 1 inch or so, but no big deal. With feet stretched out full forward position, it seems my feet were back about 1 inch closer than on my 500. No big deal. Ride, much nicer, soaked up bumps and road irregularities like a gold wing. Brakes much much better. Is a little faster than my 500, but it is a 500 carbed model with 33 gram weights. Rpm about 6000 at 80 miles per hour. Big improvement! It should get much better MPG. Very quite and much smoother. Unless they bring in the AN 500 twin, this may be my next bike? I am going to start saving 4 a new one ASAP. Saw a you tube video where a guy had just returned from a vacation trip, 2 up fully loaded with after market hard bags, trunk etc. Stated 400i was able to do everything a huge touring bike could do except do 150 MPH. Said, why would anyone spend 20-25,000 $ when you could have this bike for 6,000? The 400i could do 80-85 MPH all day long with the much less RPM's than the 500 does at freeway speeds. I was more than very very impressed. Can't say any thing bad about the bike.  :) ;) :D ;D 8) :-*

You meant AK550 and Kymco USA doesn't know if they will bring it in. I was just recently at Chaparral Motorsports in Riverside where they had a XCiting 400i and a X-Town 300i. I was surprised that the 400i is $6,000 vs the 300i at only $4,000. The 300i had a more comfy seat. I didn't really like the gauges on either. The 400i had a analog tach and digital speedo that I thought was a bit small display. The 300i had analog gauges but the numyers seemed a bit small to easily read.

I'm extremely happy with my 400i. I traded a '13 Honda PCX in for it, got a great deal, and have no complaints with the bike. It was like going from a go-kart to Formula 1. The only hacks I have are with aftermarket parts, namely the windscreen hitting the mirrors, and the lack of availability for replacement front turn signals that actually have the LEDs in them. I would highly recommend this bike, and I'll tell you without hesitation, you're going to love it.

On another note, you had it up to 80? I never managed more than low-60s on the Honda, with one wild downhill ride on the sunny side of 70. It wasn't particularly fun or comfortable, but I didn't have much choice. What I'd like to know is, did the dealer actually let you take it out on a road where you could go that fast? I haven't had mine up above 55-57 yet, as I'm carefully breaking it in, and don't want high RPMs yet. Let me get past that 600mi oil change, and get her safely past 1K mi, and then I'll think about those speeds.

I really think you'll enjoy the 400i.

Go to ebay and contact this guy https://www.ebay.com/str/ANDROIDEXTEND/ he was able to get the OE Kymco body mounted turn signal lights for my MyRoad 700i. http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=24542.0

Yes MJR, I meant AK not AN. So Kymco USA does not know if they will bring in the best scooter ever built in human history? That sounds exactly like them. They said no no no that they would not bring in the 400i, and then there it is on cycle trader? Didn't even have it on their web site until it was for sale for several months? Damn what a bunch of idiots! Took the xciting 500 off of their site for quite a while, only to put it back on again and start to offer new 500's again when everyone though they were gone for good? :o ??? :-*

I wish they would bring in the AK550, I might be interested in adding one to my stable.

Yes Evil T they did, I think it was the owners bike? I doubt they would let someone demo a new floor model? But who knows? Maybe if you went in with cash in hand? :-*
