That's a bummer hgw 75.  I think you will be pleased with the c 50.  Besides my 2010 xciting 500 I have a 2007 c50 dressed up with shield, bags, backrest for touring. It is a good bike and actually gets better mpg than my kymco.   Has been good to me in the 2 plus years of ownership One of the great motorcycle forums is Volusiariders.com with a wealth of info and good members.  Best of luck on your purchase

Sad to hear the xciting 500 being discontinued, however am glad parts will be around.  Really appreciate what Skutorr had to say about the 400i.  Went and read reviews about it and it has been quite well received.  Rather have the 15 inch wheel on front as I think this is a big advantage over the other 14 and 13 of competitors.  I am always amazed at how my 500 absorbs the bumps so common here in sw Ohio.   I hope they bring the 400i in.  Shame no Tmax, or Integra.  Jeepers honda sold over 15 million 2 wheelers worldwide last year, the most of any mfg by a wide margin and Yamaha also does well and one would think they could bring in some to try and open a scooter market in this country.  Maybe all it would take would be some kind of marketing program over here.  Most people and motorcyclist are really unaware of maxi scooters and are surprised when I tell them what mine can do.  I just joined a riding club last week and went on a 350 mile ride with them on my Suzuki Boulevard this past Sunday.  They are open to all motorcycles and there is a good mix of harleys and metrics.  Wonder what they will think when next trip I go with them on my Xciting 500ri.

Reply to Stig.  Seems like a pretty good dealership.  However I have never bought a bike here or had service done.  They want top dollar but they do have a high overhead, about any metric japanese bike you could want.  I usually go there to check out a bike before I buy a top notch, low milage bike or in this case a kymco 500 on craigslist.  I have never heard anything bad about them.

I have tried to send pics of the 500 three times.  After third time it said file was to large to send from my high mega pixel panasonic camera.  If someone has suggestion I will retry.  I know when I post anything on craigslist to sell it takes several minutes per picture to download.

Since there was discussion here on the Honda NC700 X, I will put in a couple of cents also.  Honda is on the cutting edge of new technology here that may work.  Sales of this bike have been very good and people like them.  Also price point is far less that the 600 scoots, but not the Kymco 500.  For those bothered by the seat Height of 32.7 inches which is cumbersome for most people, Honda has rolled of for 2014 the CXT700.  Same engine and DCT automatic tranny, however it is cruiser styled at 28.3 seat ht. with feet forward pegs like a cruiser.  Also gets 62 to 65 mpg, are you kidding me.  I like the looks of it.  Naked model less than 7k,  however with a full fairing( that gets very good wind deflection reviews,  and color matched removable bags, this is a style that fits me as I approach 60 years of age.  Honda is saying they will take this style and put larger  engines in them in the future with auto tranny.    Should make for some exciting times in the near future for folks that like the twist and go, especially if the other brands follow this lead.  Oh and the price of full dressed CXT is less than 9k.

Some pretty good comments on the 700.  It is a shame that they have taken their styling of seating position in same direction as the 300i.  Back in August I was ready to go from Dayton, OH to Cleveland to buy a 2012 orange 300 I with only two hundred miles on it a showroom new for $3400.  I absolutely love the style and looks of the 300.  Then I went to Competition Accessories in Springfield, OH to look at one first.  Loved the looks than sat on it and was extremely dissapointed.  You would have to be a slim woman model at 5' 2" or less for this to be comfortable on any 20 mile ride.  For a man at 6 foot 200 lbs 32 inseam it was insanely cramped.  All Kymco needed to do on the 700 is similar seating and leg room of the 500 which is very comfortable.  What are the thinking.

I am assuming the 2013 x500 is pretty much same as my 2010.  I concur with sissy mary about highway speeds being very comfortable, much more so than I thought they would be.  The motor is not stressed, crosswinds and truck wash are easy to handle, and it is very stable.  I have the givi windscreen and it is wonderful at directing air away.  I am an even six foot and absolutely no helmet buffeting.

I have a question for sissy mary.  What are your general impressions of the 700.  Feel free to elaborate.  I have not seen one as yet although the dealer in
Springfield, OH may have some in the spring.

Xciting 500 / Re: windscreen for 2012 Kymco Xciting 500

Can not speak about original as my 2010 came with large givi and it does great job of eliminating wind and no helmet buffeting ( I only wish the factory windscreen on my Suzuki Boulevard worked as well )  and is very easy to install.  I always ride with helmet and with the sun not out I can ride with visor retracted with no fear of bugs or road debris to eyes and face.  If you do not have one -  get one.

I just bought mine 3 weeks ago and decided to join forum since I found out so much about the Kymco line reading this forum.  I bought a beautiful red 2010 ( original purchase in use date was June of 2011 ) 500 that had 4900 miles on it for 2900.00.  I considered this a steal since I followed Craigslist posting in a 500 mile range for 2 months.  I live outside of Dayton, Oh and traveled to Southern MI to buy it ( over 200 miles ) as soon as it was posted.  The seller was getting call after call on it the whole time I was there.  There was not a scratch on it except both lower black panels where original owner tried to remove all the white info. stickers and scratched the panels in the process.  Not a problem.  I removed the panels, sanded and repainted the duller flat black color with several coats of metallic black and clearcoat for $30.00 and now it pops.  I also had Kymco in 3 inch vinyl red with white border made and placed on the panels, and I think it pops, but just my opinion.

The  Xciting 500 ri is also ABS and fuel injected.  It also came with the large Givi windsceen that works wonderfully.  A Givi color matched case with integrated lights was on the rear and a Leo Vince exhaust complimented it also.  The front tire was almost new, however the rear was bald.  In two days I got a Shinko rear for 65 dollars delivered and a Harley  Mechanic two miles away removed rear wheel and mounted new tire for $40.

I really love this scooter and will make further posts I am sure.       Chuck
