Xciting 500 / My wife just bought a 2009 Xciting 500
« on: June 01, 2016, 06:35:09 PM »
Hi All: I own a Kymco GT300i. My wife picked-up a 2009 Xciting 500. It has 8K on her & she bought it for $2300.00 He installed a new battery, belt & rear tire. It has a couple of superficial scrapes (wasn't dumped) I think I can get most of them out with light compound/wax. It's White with a Shad 45L trunk w/ backrest. Pretty sweet deal. The upside is the guy works for my wife @ her their work. Now we can cruise together! I'm pleased.

Super 8 150 / Battery Replacement Question
« on: September 28, 2015, 02:06:57 PM »
I sold my Kymco Super 8 to my mothers neighbor down in Florida. He's older & doesn't have a clue about fixing anything. I decided his OEM battery was shot. I'm leaving tomorrow to see my mother & I'll install the new battery for him. BTW...Scorpion batteries rock for the money.

http://www.batterystuff.com/powersports-batteries/sYTX7A-BS.html

My question is this.....Do I just unscrew the two screws on the plastic plate & pop-out the cover? If you look @ this video here:

You'll notice @ 56 seconds with the video, he's pulling the entire seat out. I don't think this is required as he getting @ the carb & cylinder head.

Any insight? If you are just taking the two screws out, does it pop-off easily?

Thanks All!

Since the downgrade of the Super 8 to a "Super Agility", Kymco's line-up is super weak IMHO. Bintelli scooters just picked-up the Adly line for 50cc (2-strokes @ 4.35HP) that out-class most 50cc today. Plus there are countless other solid companies that are producing better scooters for the money. I LOVE my GT300i but that costs 5K. For people looking into an entry-level 50cc or even a 150cc, Kymco needs to step-up! Kymco seems to be going backwards in the US. I'm sure gas prices has something to do with it, but overall their not what they were 2-3 years ago.

People GT 300i / Good News & Bad News
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:51:23 PM »
Well....It's a sunny day up here North of Boston so I decided to kick-over the GT300i. One push & she started right-up. The bad news is my seat lock will not open up. I've had issues with my seat locking into place when I tried to close it. Last year my Kymco dealer added a washer & that help it some. Now I have to bring it to the dealer & god knows what it's going to cost me. If it's a broken cable....I would think that's some labor time to get that done. I'm glad I fill my tank to the top before I store it for the Winter!

I wonder just how they're going to get the seat open. Oh well.....Toys cost money.

General Discussion / Sold my Kymco GT300i
« on: March 02, 2015, 04:28:39 PM »
Well I decided to sell my GT300i for a Piaggio BV350 (new old stock/Silver with Burgundy seat) Why? Well...A Piaggio dealer opened-up closer to our home & I never liked the overall looks of the GT300i. Plus, I think Kymco is going down-hill myself (in the USA) Not to say it's a bad scooter, just that Kymco is slipping. I got $3500.00 for my GT300i (which isn't horrible) & bought the BV350 for $5100.00

Fit & finish on the Piaggio is night/day. In terms of looks the BV350 is so hot! I live just outside of Boston & the snow here is insane this season. The dealer will keep it for me until mid-April. Well...I sold my last Kymco. I still will poke around these boards, but I think I made a solid decision. Here's a link to my new BV350.

General Discussion / New Super 8 150's....I'm Mortified!
« on: February 09, 2015, 03:38:28 PM »
After owning a  new2012 Super 8 (which I liked) & sold for a SYM HD200 that I leave @ my parents home in Florida (love it!) I went on Kymco's USA website today. I'm stunned what they did with the new Super 8's! 12" tires? The frame looks to be an Agility 125! 57 MPG? Not good. Seat might be an upgrade (maybe), naked instrument panel & new LED lights. Woop Dee Do! This is yet another cost cutting measure by Kymco!

Some for you might like it. I think Kymco is going in the wrong direction myself & the competition is getting better IMHO. When the scooter scene starting to pick-up speed 8-9 years ago, Kymco was a wonderful alternative to Piaggio, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda etc. Now...They are falling behind with their skimpy line-up & cost cutting measures. I dig my GT300i, but I'm considering selling it for a Piaggio BV350. I was a HUGE Kymco fanboy, but that might come to an end in the Spring.

General Discussion / What Happened to Kymco USA Line-Up?
« on: December 12, 2014, 03:19:59 PM »
Hi All: I haven't hit these boards in a while. Broke my arm this summer (non-related scooter accident) & haven't really used my GT300i @ all. I checked on Kymco's USA website & they only have 8 models now?

http://www.kymcousa.com/showroom/index_onroad.html

I also noticed no GT300i in Silver anymore. No Super 8 150? What the hell is going on with Kymco USA these days? Any insight people?

General Discussion / Just got back from Bermuda & SYM is KING there!
« on: July 22, 2014, 02:58:18 PM »
I think my title says it all. We decided to give Bermuda a try for 10 days & my wife & I LOVED IT! The island is so damn clean! Not a piece of trash anywhere to be seen. It's a tad expensive, but what island isn't? Anyway...SYM HD 125cc series are everywhere! It's insane. Like @ least 40-50% of the market share. There are Honda's, Yamaha's & Kymco's (but not that many Kymco's) I did see some European scoots like Peugeot, Piaggio & of course the over-prices Vespa's. In addition to some Korean Hyosung & Daelim & even a few Taiwanese TGB! Not many crappy Chinese scooters there @ all.

We scored a brand new (115 miles on the ODM) White SYM HD 125 for $21.99 per day (not bad) It did the job well enough considering I'm a semi-fatso @ 6' 220 lbs. & my wife is 5'10" @ 145 lbs. Kymco doesn't really have a strong following down there. I highly recommend heading down to Bermuda in the Spring/Summer months! It's a real treat & my wife & I travel a decent amount. I think this & St. Martin (Dutch side) our are favs.

Super 8 150 / Thinking about trading-in my Super 8
« on: January 13, 2014, 06:54:58 AM »
Hi All: I'm thinking about trading-in my Super 8 for a SYM HD200. I keep my Kymco Super 8 in Florida @ my mothers home (my father passed in November) Anyway....The dealer has a HD200 (in Red) that has under 200 miles on her & she offered me $1400.00 for my S8. She want's $2900.00 for the HD200 & I thinking I might pull the trigger. At 15.3HP, it's night & day vs. the S8 @ 9.38HP. In addition, I'll receive the 2-year warranty in full. Water-cooled vs. air, plus dual disc brakes & a much more comfortable seat! What do you guys think? I'm on the fence as I only come down to see my mother 4-5 times a year. I wished it was fuel-injected, but I'm splitting hairs I think. I think for the extra $1500.00 it might be worth it.

General Discussion / Kymco Tire Valve Stem Caps from eBay
« on: January 12, 2014, 12:32:14 AM »
BTW...I'm NOT the seller of this product on eBay! I bought 2 sets of these Kymco logo valve stem caps for both my Super 8 & my GT300i scoots. The reason why I bought them was because my Super 8 rubber/plastic tab broke on one of my tires. I was going to get some replacements @ my local auto store. But I went on to eBay & noticed these. They look pretty good, if you can even notice them. Not necessary by any means, but has a nice little touch.

PS: These came from Hong Kong & I received them within 10 days.

General Discussion / Quick Heads-Up on a Solid Scooter Cover
« on: December 23, 2013, 03:26:46 AM »
I just wanted to pass this along. I'm sure some of you keep your scooter outdoors 24/7 like I do. We own a home, but don't have a garage (sigh) I found this weatherproof scooter cover from Empire covers. I received it on Thursday & I really like it for the money. The large size fits my GT300i perfectly. I noticed my 2-year cover had a couple of tears on Monday & I ordered this right away. I guess on Mondays they give 40% off vs. their normal 30% I paid $27.19 & $10.02 for S/H to Massachusetts ($37.21 total) Comes with a 3-year warranty as well. I'm going to order a back-up tomorrow. It's a great deal for the money.

Super 8 150 / 2013 Super 8 Sits for almost 9 months & ......
« on: November 21, 2013, 11:43:29 PM »
after 3 tries, she started right up! For those of you that have to put away your scooter for an extended period of time, I highly recommend using additives. I keep my Super 8 down in Florida @ my parents home. I'm usually down every 3-4 months, but I couldn't make it down for awhile. My last tank I use 93 octane as gasoline will degrade over time.

1st: Seafoam. Great product! Cheap (Walmart)

2nd: Starbrite Ethanol fuel treatment. Most gas stations in the US use ethanol, so this is a must. I use it with every fill-up.

3rd: Stabil fuel stabilizer. I know Seafoam does the same, but I find it doesn't hurt.

4th: I put a touch of Gumout fuel octane booster as well.

Run my scooter for 5-7 miles & put her away for storage in the garage. Work like a charm for me. I know many of you have heard this before, but I wanted to pass this along just the same.

General Discussion / Purchased a Lance PCH125 over the Agilty 125
« on: August 29, 2013, 04:20:16 PM »
We few weeks back Massachusetts had a "tax free" weekend (under $2500.00) This was going to be a purchase for my wife. We went over to our Kymco dealer (10 miles away) & she sat on the Agility 125 & didn't like it. She said the seat was too hard & it looked super "cheap" I said to her to look beyond that because it has a good track record. I lost that battle. We went to a SYM/Lance dealer (30+ miles away) & she loved the Lance PCH125 (in Yellow no less) Yellow really? They gave us $75.00 of retail @ $1899.00 & did a DMV run for plates & registration for free. I thought that was pretty cool of them (Scooters Go Green Boston, MA.)

We have had the scooter now for 2+ weeks & I must admit, it's pretty solid so far. Built by SYM in China & the QC seems to be excellent! I'll admit the looks of the scoot blows away the Agility 125 & the seat is like a cushion in comparison! The engine is peppy @ only 8.38HP. I paid $1824.00 with no freight or dealer fees. We slapped a Shad 33 Liter case on back & she has a decent amount of cargo space now.

Guys...You know I'm a Kymco "fanboy" but they really need to update their line-up! Yes...the Agility change their looks a tad, but they need to move forward. My gripe? They need a FI engine in the mid-range market, aside from the Like 200i. Not everyone (including me) doesn't like the Retro look.

People GT 300i / I decided to change the color of my GTi300
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:01:29 PM »
Well...I have no problem with Silver, but my favorite color is Red (Fire Engine Red) I received a quote of $450.00 for the conversion from a local auto body shop next to my Kymco dealer. I ordered new logos (Peoples & GTI300 on the right & left sides & the front Kymco logo as well) from the dealer today. The auto body shop took pictures of the logos to know where to place them. I also ordered a few extra body panel clips in case some get snapped in the process. A buddy of mine that works on motorcycles will come over & help me take off the panels. I'll post some pictures when I'm finished. Looks to be finished @ the end of this month.

When I bought the Kymco Gti300 @ the end of August last year, I liked everything about it, but lamented in the back of my mind about the color. Even my wife was like "You won't be happy with a scooter unless it's Red" So Red it is soon enough!
