The main jet is not the one controlled by that screw. The Pilot jet is. Just to be 100% certain... Which side of the carb is your Mix screw on?

If it is on the air box side it is an Air screw, and turning it in w/ little to no effect indicates your jet is too small OR you have an air leak either in/on the carb or the intake track. Perhaps even the crank seals.

OR someone along the line has either swapped out the jet or you have a clogged up idle circuit.

The easiest way to be sure a carb is clean is to soak it in Chem Dip for 24-48 hours. EVERY piece of the carb has to be taken apart before soaking to be certain the chemical can get into everything. Rubber gloves are a MUST have cause this stuff stinks, and the smell will last for days in your skin.

If that does not correct the issue you may just need a larger Pilot jet. Also if you intend to swap to a free flow air filter you will need a larger pilot jet anyway. Generally speaking 1-2 steps up is enough.

I thought the S8 50 2T takes the M4 jet not the M5 jet.

zombie, should i change the pilot and main jet, or just the main jet?

is it 5mm?  anyone got a link to where i can purchase the right one for my 2012 kymco super 8 50cc, 2 stroke?

I agree, Ive read just about every post on this forum and I dont see any or much mention of changing the pilot jet. Are we talking a 5mm pilot jet or 5mm main jet.

This is what I ordered and it say for the Super 8 50 2t in the application list :

Hi chris, it looks like we're in the same boat. we have the same bike.  8)

does it fit? I'm confused about the 5m and 4m, which is it?

Also, when I check out it says " Item located in the european warehouse, delivery time 6-8 days"

Anyone know where  I could get it from a USA supplier?

Its been 12 days since I have ordered the jets from racing planet, they had to get them from their European warehouse so they have not arrived yet. I'm hoping to get them soon and I'll definitely let you know ASAP if they at least fit then if they  work. All other mods involving variator tuning are on hold and I'll just go with this jet change for now. I  have only 3 1/2 months till the scooter goes into storage and may just get a variator performance kit next year instead of messing with springs and rollers. The bike is doing what it needs to do and is quite fun.

I'll keep you informed and we will be able to have closure on this thread hopefully soon. I assume their 6-8 day delivery is business days not actual days.

ok, I'm thinking of going with this one,

http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/930/25594/Keihin-99101-116-Series-Main-Jet?term=keihin%20m4

can someone confirm if it's the right one?

ps. how many miles do you have on your scoot and how do you like it so far?  I've got 900miles on mine, haven't been serviced yet, so i far I love the thing!

Bump!! When they talk about the MM sizing, is it the head diameter or the thread length ? You could put a spin on it and say its either a 5mm or 4mm with that detailed part.  I come from a mechanical design/drafting background so I do get over technical at times.

Good luck with that jet and let us know how it works. What I am reading is the M4 or M5 are the thread sizes and I see both listed for our brand of carb. But racing planet my have mistakenly listed the M4 for the Kymco Super 8 2t.

Looking at the bottom of this link http://www.euroscooterparts.co.uk/find-your-scooter/kymco/naraku-m4-main-jet-pack-sizes-80-98.html says the M4 isnt suitable for the Super 8. I just sent racing planet an email to verify that they had mistake of their pull down menu then.

May as well repurchase a jet from someplace else and have a spare to give to someone once racing planet corrects the order that I hope they will.

I am about ready to go out and by a tap and die set and buy a piece of brass.

The size they refer to is actually the head size on the jet, and not the thread size.

Here's the kit you want. One jet is useless. You need to try several starting w/ the richest, and work toward lean.
