Downtown 300 / Re: Cheapest Kymco Parts
« on: August 21, 2017, 02:01:00 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where the least expensive and best selection of Kymco Downtown 300i parts can be found in the U.S.?

Thanks 8)

This place sells Kymco parts at very reasonable prices.  OEM Kymco belt for the Downtown is only about $65.

I give up,  time to go too the dealer,  in the mean while I was talking to goulet moto sport in Quebec, and he has 4 Piaggio 350i in stock,  do they look good ,.  ended up I pick it up tomorrow,. 2016 piaggio 350i sport ,.  OTD price $ 6,317.88  Canadian ,.  I will pick it up with trailer, and bring it to my break it in hill,  let the fun begin!!!

So is that the end of your 2011 Downtown, de dee?  I hope not.

Hold on there, riders! The belt housing for the CVT on the People is longer, I think, than the Downtown because of the wheel size.

Karl

Same part number for both bikes.

I just looked online at the price of a drive belt. The website listed a drive belt for $188.. That is $88. more than I paid for the last one I bought.
Where is the best buy on drive belts June 2017, from a reputable dealer?.
I thought over time the price of belts would come down, not go up.

This place has much better prices.  Same belt for a GTI 300 and a Downtown 300i

Hello
Did anyone tried this on our scooter?
And if so, what would be the right model and size?

https://airhawk.net/product-category/cushions/

I am not completely satisfied with my seat and not sure if i want to spend hole lot of money
remaking my seat.
I dont have the skills to do it myself.

I've got one of these for my Downtown 300i and love it.

Are they still available in the USA and if so where ?

ER.
Heinen's in MN has a brand new 2015 on sale for $4999.  They will ship it anywhere in the US for a few hundred dollars.  http://www.heinenmotorsports.com/kymco.html

I know that they make it, but I have yet to see it in any of the stores that I have gone to. I can order it online, but when you add the shipping costs, it gets too expensive.Autozone,Pep boys,Strauss auto,Napa and Walmart, in New Jersey, do not stock it.I was just curious, that's all. Thanks for the info and links.

Hi Rich,

I got my Mobil 1 at NAPA.  I just ordered it online and they shipped free to the store and i picked it up there in a few days.  It even happened to be on sale last year for about $5.00 a quart.  I stocked up on a bunch of it.

Jimboeau, you are probably right. Changing the oil at such short intervals is probably overkill. But the oil isn't too expensive, plus I get bored and like to play and tinker with my toys.[emoji51][emoji106]

Stig, I change the engine oil every 1,000 miles on my DT300. Manual says to use a good 5w50 4 stroke oil. It's hard to find and quite pricey. Been using 10w40 4T full synthetic motorcycle oil (valvoline) . I see from your records , you have used a few different oils. Do you prefer one over any other? Thanks

Why do you guys change the oil so soon?  The manual for the DT300 says to change every 3000 miles.  I can see changing it at 600 - 1000 miles for a small scooter with no real filter, but changing the DT that quickly seems like a waste of good oil.  I use Mobil One 5w-50 and I think that should easily last 3000 miles since we have a good spin on filter on the DT300.  What do you all think?

I use  http://serfax.com

It lets you create an account and keep track of all your maintenance online for any vehicle or cycle/scooter.  So far it's worked well for me.

Downtown 300 / Re: Downtown 300i Changing Spark Plug
« on: June 25, 2016, 03:27:50 PM »
jimboeau, I just changed mine last week. You do not have to take the seat bucket off. I took mine off, but it was easier access going up between the side and center stand and looking through the "air vent "    Located on the side, between the foot rest and sea. It's a little uncomfortable, kneeling or laying on the ground, but taking the seat tube out did not provide better access.

Thanks Rich, that was easy.  Took about 10 minutes.  I was expecting the original plug to be really tight but it wasn't bad at all.

Hello all,

I was going to put in an NGK iridium plug in my downtown.  Do you have to take the seat bucket off to change the plug or can you get to it from underneath and not have to take out the bucket?  Thanks!

Karl, thanks for the technical description. I can post pictures, but you are much better at explaining how they work.

Thanks Karl and Rich.  Rich where did you get your mount in the picture?  Could you post a picture of your mount on your downtown?
