lights came in today.

54 led white underglow lights with a switch.

I'm going to drop the scoot off at the service guy on monday, i can't wait!!

Would you consider hydraulic lifts next and a bouncing bike?

the service department where i bought the scoot is totally backed up so they told me to look somewhere else to get the mods done.

I found another place and he said that to do, 1) 70cc big bore kit 2) variator and contra spring 3) the underglow lights, he would charge me 3 hours time, is that about right?

Also, it seems like a mostly motorcycle place, I didn't see any scooters around.  Do you guys think it would be a good thing to print out instructions on how to do the big bore kit and variator installs and bring them with me when he does the work?

3 hrs is very fair for that. I'm surprised you got such a nice quote. Ask him about any balancing that needs doing after a BBK and if they will make sure the BBK is in there secure and not being detrimental to other components.

Your scooter wont be street legal without tags and not many are after mods and thats maybe why that dealer didn't help you.

oh, thanks for the info Chris, now it makes sense, I was wondering why they didn't seem terribly interested in doing the work.

I don't expect to have too many problems with the cops since I'm keeping my stock exhaust things should be pretty stealth.

Where do you live?? cops here in MN dont even really care if you've got a 125 with no motorcycle endorsement.

Not too many states they do care, but if an accident does happen, believe me; the caring starts and liabilities will be assigned.

I brought them the new belt today, they said it was damaged on the inside. I had 900 miles on it, is it possible that a belt could get damaged with such little use  by a  bad install from the dealer?

No not really. You will not notice a difference if the new kit is NOT tuned correctly tho.
Lets start from the beginning...

You installed a 70cc kit. Which one?
What else was installed or changed that day?
Are your WOT rpm's the same? higher? lower?

i think its malossi 70cc kit (i got it from spi)
the malossi multivar (variator, roller weights, white contra spring)
changed to a new belt.

i picked it up from the shop today and rode it for 10miles.  I didn't really test it and kept the speed below 25mph. It feels ok to me but i don't know much about scoots anyway. It def has a quicker take off (first 20 yards). It sounds like its revving higher than before and when i let go of the throttle completely its obvious that the revs are staying higher until i come to a complete stop. but so far i can't notice anything wrong with it, so thats a good start.

how slowly should i break in the new cylinder?

Stay below 1/2 throttle for at least 100 miles, and then open it up slowly for short high speed runs 5-10 seconds at a time. LISTEN to the cylinder, and pipe. If you hear anything like a rattle or popping sounds back off immediately. That would suggest LEAN running. I would get 2-3 new spark plugs to do some inspections on. In fact pull out you plug today and either post a pict or describe what you see.

Have you added some 2t oil to the fuel tank? About one ounce for break in.

The higher rpm may also suggest lean running. Turn your idle mix screw (small screw on carb) either direction till you get the highest rpm you can then adjust the idle speed with the larger screw.

which end of the carb is your mix screw on? The air box side or the engine side?
If it's on the air box side you will turn it in 1/4 turn clockwise after you get the highest rpm.
If it's on the engine side you will turn it 1/4 turn counter clockwise after the highest rpm.
This just richens the circuit a tiny bit to avoid lean running.

im not sure but it kinda sounds like something is knocking not all the time and never when its idling. is that normal?
