Title: Short Ride up the Coast
Post by: MJR on May 30, 2017, 04:02:54 AM
Took a couple of hours riding up the coast on my white B650 from Costa Mesa, Palos Verde Penninsula, Point Vincente Lighthouse, Manhattan Beach, and a short bus driver almost popping wheelies at every stop light starting out a few days ago and just getting around to posting. Nice views out to Catalina Island.

Thanks for sharing your ride with us - that's some beautiful country you covered there.  :)

Super duper pics, nice  ride area and very clean Burgy. That's the color I never had but wanted. I had a silver and red 650 and a blue 400. Gotta love those vw buses. I had several in CA. and one in Tx. They're hugely underpowered and a gas to drive. Kinda like a scooter except of course for the big boys like the mighty Burgman. With that bike you can smoke most bikes off the line in sport mode.

Great "bike in"pics. Thanks MJR. That Bug Bus might not be under powered, the way the front end is
sitting so low, or it could be due to it's braking for the light. What ever, nice shot. Thanks for sharing.

Great photos MJ....
almost too painful for a scooter rider in middle America to view....but thanks anyway.
The USA is a fine looking country....

Interesting question. A search online provides no information on that. Catalina Express lists bicycles but not scooters. The city of Avalon lists procedures for golf carts and cars to bring them in but nothing about say a day use permit. I've have never been on the island in my years but if I could take a scoot that would be fun.

It has been many, many years since I was on Catalina, and did have fun wandering about Avalon...
But they do have a few other sites that a scooter might come in real handy for.
I am almost sure there are significant hills to get up out of Avalon, so a motorized bicycle probably would not work.
There must be some place to check on local regs...

Yep, there are regs...

Interesting to read a little of the main bit...

There's a number of sites that discuss renting golf carts and E-bikes, and taking them across of the California Flyer.
