Technical | How To / Upgrade CVT...

I am thinking about replacing all or most of the stock parts in the transmission for some performance ones.  I found this kit...Anyone have any advice or recomendations with going with a different brand or even a different direction...Will this make a significant difference?  Worth the price?

Technical | How To / Which springs are stiffer?
« on: June 21, 2010, 10:33:47 PM »
Is a 1500 spring stiffer than a 1000 spring?  The spring in the picture on the left is the 1000rpm one and the one on the right is the 1500 rpm.  The 1000 is about a 1/2 inch longer than the 1500.  I would think that this would cause more pressure on the clutch and make a more effective engagement?  I am confused???

Technical | How To / Re: Sliders/Clutch Springs/Fly Springs

I started by just changing the 5.5 gram sliders to the 6.5 gram stock rollers with the 1000 torque spring still in it.  It did respond better but still not what I had for top end before the new spring.  I topped out at 36 mph...Soooo I took out the 1000 torque spring and replaced it with the stock torque spring and put in the 5.5 gram dr. pulley sliders...  With just the sliders it was back to the old top end speed with a little nicer acceleration.  It looks like if I want to keep my top end speed while using a performance torque spring I am going to have to go with some heavier sliders...I think maybe 7 or 7.5.  But thats another day as I am content with her for now...

So based on your experience...you think it is the the torque spring that is causing the the problems or the lighter weight sliders...or BOTH?

Yeah based on what I read, my CVT changes are similare to ither who have had great sucess.  I think my best bet is to try the 6.5 gram stock rollers tomorrow (when it is not raining) and see iff their is a difference.  Hopefully, or I am going back to all OEM even with the torque spring...

Okay good advice...Never thought a  new 1000 torque springs and a decrease in 1 gram in the variator would cause so much decrease in top end speed...

Definatley tried that.  Could not get it to budge...maybe cause the 1000 torque spring?
