Hey there, you said you were running without a filter at all? even on the most perfect roads there will be some particles of dust and dirt that you do not want sucked up in the carb. I would put a filter on there if i were you. I run a K&N filter and it works well, it hardly restricts the flow so it is similar to running without a filter but it does keep the dirt out.
Even small amounts of dirt and dust particles can form carbon deposits on the wall of your cylinder that can cause pre-ignition which causes an engine to run rough and can even lead to detonation.
If like you say your roads are clean it should be fine for now but i would not run any engine without an air filter on it for an extended period of time.
Just my two cents.

P.S : at least you have dry warm weather where you are  :P

Hey, you probably solved the problem by now but i just thought i would give my input.
I installed an aftermarket pipe and also wondered what this extra rubber tube was. i just ended up tucking into the body like Peters said.
You would be surprised how much of a difference the pre 04' pipe makes. The thing that solved my problems was up-jetting (i am running a #92 but i have a high flow exhaust, like peter said 85 sounds good) and installing a K&N universal air filter. the air filter did wonders because drilling holes did not really seem to work for me.

Hello again,
If my people is downshifting too early (therefore getting a very unequal powerband, I.E lots of power from 0 to 20 mph, no power from 20 to 30 and than power again from 30 to 45) does this mean my rollers are too heavy or too light. And also, can you guys recommend what weight I should pick, I have a KN filter and a tecnigas exhaust. The weights provided with the exhaust are better than the stock weights but still don't feel optimal.

After injecting some gas directly into the cylinder with a straw, it started on the first kick. I am glad that is sorted out. The battery is now slowly charging.

Yes i did, and i do get a spark!
I am about to go downstairs now and try to start it by putting some gas straight into the cylinder. There might be some air in the gas lines, i figure iff the engine turns over a few times it might create enough of a vacuum to get gas flowing.
I will get back to you guys a little later with the result.

hi, i cannot give you any information on the engine, i can however give my opinion on the tires. Despite the slimmer tires on the people, they are safer if you encounter road imperfections. The larger diameter will prevent the tire from sinking as low into potholes, holes, cracks, etc... as a smaller tire. I used my people in NYC a lot where the potholes sometimes are 6 to 8 inches deep and i have never had a problem (omitting a sore rear end). I know a few people who have been thrown off when the smaller diameter tire dug into this sort of imperfection.
I don't know much about the contact surface of the tire, but i do not think that the smaller fatter tires have much more of a contact surface area (i might be wrong, i am not a tire expert).
I have been riding my People 50 2t for over 1 year and 1/2 now in many many conditions (including snow :O) and i have never had a problem linked to the tires. The rim is very heavy duty, i think since people are not used to seeing this skinny a tire on scooters they sometimes assume that they are much less safe.

Well i took the spark plug out kept it connected to the wire (im not sure what it is called) and had someone kick while i looked at it haha

Yes i kickstarted it the same way i have always kickstarted it. The plug is brand new, hand on the brake and kick ... kick ... kick lol.

Hmm, i tried to kick start it but it won't start. i checked to see if i have a spark and it does not seem like i do. The spark plug is brand new so it's not that.

Hey,
so second post in the same day, sorry about that. Anyway, i just tried to start my moped after 1 month of absence and the battery is completely flat. The horn does not even sound. In this case i guess starting it with the kick start does not even work. How would i go about charging it, i suspect jump starting is not an option to get some juice to the battery. Would i need to buy a charger?
