I read that Kymco is now a major investor in the Harley spinoff company, Livewire. There's no avoiding the electric revolution.

And don't forget the Kymco Ionex scooters in SE Asia and Australia. Essentially a Like scooter redesigned with the Ionex battery electric system. The floor board is where the pull out batteries sit. Charge at home or swap on the road at Ionex battery swap stations or charge at charge point stations or rent extra batteries for a long trip or...
Been out for a few years now.

MV Augusta partnering with Kymco?  I’d have expected something with a bit more design flair!

I think they put all their (Kymco) good designers on the SuperNEX and RevoNEX bikes. But I was surprised at the MV Augusta/Kymco scooter design. The Kymco global home page for the Ionex scooters shows a much better design, more like the LIKE series.
https://www.kymco.com/topic/ionex-electric-scooter

And at the Kymco.au/ionex web page it shows what looks just like the LIKE series design in the Ionex version of the scooter. Video included at both web pages.

Think you’re right Bob. The SuperNex is a great looking shape, even with the honeycomb feature!

Ionex could be a solution for urban mobility as long as the infrastructure is there too, but for out of town you need either a 200 mile range battery or a battery change station network?  Like the look of the iRent variants.

Looking again at the MV design, I suppose no more quirky than the Vespa was when it was launched?

Just saw a new Range Rover commercial and the new RR models remind me of that MV Augusta/Kymco scooter design-wise. A lot of the same lines.

That one has been out for a few years now. Saw a video about it maybe 4 years ago.

Departing just a little from electric scooters...
After hearing that Minnesota will be ending the sale of any new gas powered lawn equipment and snowblowers I know that Iowa is not so far behind... except since Iowa is the leading producer of Ethanol it might be a bit longer coming. Anyway, was thinking it might be wise to convert mine to electric before I can't sell my mowers and snowblower due to the gas powered market for this stuff is diminished. Thinking of a battery powered lawn mower and snowblower and maybe a string trimmer that all use the same battery so I don't have any rechargeable batteries sitting around unused for a long time. Year 'round use works best. Thinking of Ego 56v stuff with a couple of 7.5 Ah batteries. Then again, likely the gas powered equipment won't really be going away even if Iowa does like MN and outlaw the sale of new gas powered stuff.

imagine the peace and quiet in the neighborhood if gas powered mowers were gone (highly doubtful)! The incessant drone of mowers will start in 3-6 weeks and continue buzzing from 8 AM - 9PM around here for the next 7 months...I will continue to love my gas powered mower but one can still dream..

Actually electric mowers are not as quiet as many think. They are about as loud as a clothes washer or dryer. But still a LOT quieter than a gas mower. Plus no gas and oil maintenance or winter storage prep needed!

what seems to create the most noise are the riding mowers. Not just the engine but when the operator engages the mower blades...it sounds like a jet engine! And of course just about every house in my neighborhood has a riding mower...and they have all gone to zero turns...can't be outdone by the Jones's...

I've been taking a step back in everything these days. Wanting to sell off the riding John Deer tractor and pull behind lawn sweeper (only used the sweeper 4 times in the last 3 years, not enough for me to want to keep it but that and the JD were my wife's want for me) as well as wanting a smaller car (but the "boss" wanted a bigger one so what can I do?) as well as a smaller house since it's just the 2 of us (but that's also not likely in the near term) as well as a smaller snowblower (current 2 stage was also the wife's idea but only really needed that big once in the last 5 years) as well as downsizing my bike. That last thing has been happening every 3-4 years lately. Went from my CTX1300 to the Burgman 650 and reduced the weight by 115 lbs, and then to my AK 550 reducing weight another 115 lbs... all without loosing any performance IMO.

When electric scooters are finally able to provide the performance and range closer to at least one tank of gas I might be ready to downsize to that as well.
