Yager GT 200i / Yager 200i Racing
« on: November 13, 2018, 02:01:08 AM »
Does anyone know what is the Yager 200i Engine Model?  It looks like it might be a Chinese-type GY6 with 62mm piston, but I can't find any specs.  I'd rather have a Kymco with the standard GY6 engine than a Kymco engine because of the cheap replacement parts when racing in the GY6 class.  The Yager 200i is a nice scooter, but Kymco parts & service are too expensive for racing, and GY6 scooters are really easy to find racing parts.

Anybody who has ever raced a Yager would know if the parts are interchangeable, so I'd be interested to hear from anyone who ever raced one, or even anyone who has done a rebuild.

Kymco News / KYMCO dealer closed
« on: June 13, 2018, 09:46:27 PM »
Our only KYMCO dealer in town has retired and closed shop.  Maintenance can be done, but parts are scarce. Does anyone know how to order KYMCO parts without a dealer's help?

General Discussion / Kymco Sento 50cc engine swap
« on: October 19, 2015, 07:44:10 AM »
The variator on my 2010 Kymco Sento 50cc 4T exploded, puncturing the crankcase.  Kymco lists a  replacement crankcase at over $700, and a complete engine for $1500.  I took a chance and ordered a complete gy6 50cc Chinese engine from ScrappyDog scooter parts for $329. The engine came 2 days later by FedEx, and it fit my Kymco perfectly.  The gy6 came with a generic stator which I swapped for the Kymco stator & flywheel, and it fired up no problem.

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Kymco Sento 50 with 80cc BBK

My Kymco Sento 4T with 80cc BBK. & 9:1 gears. Good for 80km/hr on a windless day!  It's very loud, so I'm going to do something about that one day.

Kymco News / Kymco 100cc swap
« on: April 08, 2014, 02:23:12 AM »
I noticed recently in Taiwan the 2006-8 Kymco Sento 100, which is a regular 50cc Sento with a bigger crankshaft and cylinder in the 50cc frame.  The engine model# is SG20. Really nice, snappy small-frame scooter! Good for 65 mph.  It looks like about a 1 hour engine swap into a standard 50cc frame.  Does anyone know where to buy a complete engine here in America?  The regular Chinese qmb139 engine dealers (same as the Sento 50cc) don't offer the 100cc variant in the USA, and the NewSento 110cc is a different animal.

Technical | How To / High-speed gears for Kymco 50cc 4T
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:30:21 PM »
After all the usual engine mods to your Kymco 50cc, you'll find that top speed hasn't changed much because speed is limited by the final gear ratio. The biggest speed increase will come from using a high-speed gear set.  Chinese qmb139 gear sets are cheap and excellent, yielding about a 25% speed increase, but Kymco (as usual) has tossed a spanner in the works.  The qmb139 gear set ALMOST works out of the box, but one gear doesn't fit.  Normally, you'd be hooped at this point, but fortunately there's a cheap fix.  Just buy a stock Chinese gear cluster ($29) for any Chinese scoot like a Lifan or Benzhou, extract the needed gear for your Kymco, and you're done.  The gear press to dis-assemble/reassemble is found in any machine shop or transmission repair shop and it only takes a few minutes to dis-assemble/reassemble the cluster.  Your Kymco 50cc with a 50mm BBK will now cruise at 70-80k/hr instead of 55-60k/hr!

In the photo, the Kymco gear to be re-used can't be re-used because Kymco made the bore diameter too small (17mm).  You need to find a stock Chinese gear instead with a 19mm bore (Sorry I couldn't upload the rest of the photos - there's a file size limit which doesn't appear to work correctly)

General Discussion / Split the 50's apart, please!
« on: December 27, 2013, 09:50:33 AM »
Is it possible to separate the 50cc 2-strokes from the 4-strokes in the discussions?  There's no way to tell what kind of scoot is the topic if you're listing scooters by name.  I have no idea what powers a Kymco Like or a Kymco Vitality since I've never seen nor heard of either.  My Kymco Sento isn't even listed.  If the 4-stroke 50's were in the same discussion topic, I could join in without digging through countless messages trying to figure out what's the motive unit.

General Discussion / Kymco Sento forum
« on: September 17, 2013, 12:24:59 AM »
I don't see a forum for the Kymco Sento 50cc.  Is there another model that's similar to the Sento so I'm not asking questions in the wrong group?

Technical | How To / How to derestrict 50cc Kymco Cento 4-stroke?
« on: September 13, 2013, 02:41:19 AM »
There was some earlier discussion started on derestricting 50cc 4T Kymcos, but the how-to photos were posted outside this forum and have disappeared.  What was left of the 4-page discussion was hijacked by 2-stroke speed demons, so in the end there's nothing left of the original discussion.  The stock variator on my machine isn't restricted, but I'm otherwise stuck in some kind of low-rpm mode that limits speed to 45km/hr (about 28mph).  Has anybody done this recently?
