Grandvista 250 / Changed spark plug..... thanks for the write-up
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:50:44 PM »
We decided to change the sparkplug on my GV250 after 5,000 miles.
Someone was smart & nice to write up how to get to the plug.  Thank You very much!  ;D

So, the plug exchange was easy.  Just remember to use your right hand, reaching around from the right side of the scooter when you screw in the new plug.  Much easier than trying to work from the left side of the scooter where the plug is.
And take up the floor mat fully so it won't be flapping into your work zone.

Grandvista 250 / bike shuddering at 30-40 MPH
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:58:56 PM »
My GV 250 seems to be shuddering in the  30 to 40 MPH range.
I just put new tires on and had them balanced to be sure about them.  Tires changed becasue of cracks in old tires.
The shuddering seems worse when the scooter is cold (start of riding) and seems to go away under strong acceleration.

I'm wondering if it could be a belt problem.... maybe cleaning is needed.  Scooter is 2009 model with 4500 miles.
I plan to have my DH check the belt later this week.  I read the forum about measuring the width of the belt and looking for
nicks and cracks.  Any other advice ?

Thanks,

Grandvista 250 / Front Axle Diameter & Wheel Balancers
« on: April 20, 2014, 12:33:33 AM »
The front axle is 12mm in diameter on the Grand Vista 250.
When I took the scooter in for new tires, the mechanic could not balance the front wheel
because his wheel balancer had a shaft diameter larger than 1/2".

So I finally found a tire shop that had a balancer with a 12mm shaft and got the job done.

Might want to check with your garage before getting new tires to see if they can balance them.

Avon tires.

Grandvista 250 / Rear Gear Vent hose split
« on: June 01, 2013, 03:38:29 PM »
When my DH was doing maintenance on the 2009 GC250, he noticed that the vent hose from the rear gear housing
to the Air Box was cracked and not connected to the air box.  He is in the process of replacing the hose.
We just wanted to alert other owners to this problem...
Not sure what effect it would have except the air:fuel ratio may be a bit higher.

The Kymco hose isn't expensive but perhaps regular auto parts hose will work.

Grandvista 250 / Crankcase condensate drain ?
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:00:26 PM »
My DH is doing a 3k mile check-up on my GV250.
He is looking for the drain hose/plug for draining the condensate from the crankcase.
He just checked the air filter box and could not find a drain there.
The service manual does not indicate a hose/plug nor any mentioning of draing the condensate.

Anyone with an answer?

Grandvista 250 / Replacement brake pads ?
« on: September 21, 2012, 01:47:22 PM »
The brakes on my GV 250  work ok, but they have a wooden feel to them and that makes you worry about their stopping ability.
The scooter has about 2000 miles on it, so they are not worn much,
but I was hoping that someone could recommend replacement pads that provide more confidence their stopping ability.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Grandvista 250 / Right handlebar closer to windshield
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:05:17 PM »
I've had my 2009 GV250 for 1.5 yrs and there have been no accidents.  Bought new.

But my DH just noticed that when you turn the handlebars fully to the left and right,
the right brake lever is much closer to touching the windscreen than the left one is when turned appropriately.
The steering appears to rotate the same amount in each direction and the handlebars appear to be straight when the steering is straight ahead.

So, I thought I would get a few other owners to check out their handlebars/windshields.

Scoot safely,

PS>  Had a nice 2hr ride this AM before it got hot.

General Discussion / Top Cases by CooCase
« on: February 18, 2011, 01:23:45 AM »
My husband and friend are in the process of mounting a 48 liter top case on a Honda Silverwing.
It is a Coo Case from  TwistedThrottle.com  Here is the web site http://www.twistedthrottle.com/article/view/371#Kymco
As I read the chart, there are several sizes for Kymco.

To date, they are happy with the design and construction of the CooCase.
Mounting is via a plastic plate that comes with the case. It appears to be sturdy enough and has many "holes" for the mounting bolts.

There is a lack of instructions, but TwistedThrottle.com has made some videos that help.

Their next part is to do the of wiring the lighting system and the remote/automatic lock.

This brand of top case may be of interest to other scooter owners.
(I have been following the Downtown 300 discussion with interest and thought I should mention this brand)
