Best scooter quote from a book.
« on: August 23, 2013, 12:33:03 AM »
One of the chapter titles from one of my fav scooter books is :
"What Are Strokes and How Many Do I Need?"

But, noting a scooter's  lack of ergonomic adjustability,  my fav quote is:
"Your personal concept of scary gets seriously redefined when your handlebar and knees are trying to occupy the same space in the middle of a tight turn."
Large owners of the Kymco LIKE know exactly what the author is referring to, here.
You best learn the "flare the knees!" move quickly, or you will be staring at scratches on your new LIKE very soon.

I have found it a bit of a challenge to have no where to "hug" by legs against like a motorcycle gas tank.  I have occasionally found myself moving my knees a bit too far during a turn and finding nothing to "grab" onto with my knees.

But I am getting used to it and adjusting very well.

Some riders here in town are duct taping 8 lb. Smithfield Hams between the leg sheild and the seat - gives your knees something to grab on to.
Vegetarians have fewer choices....which serves them right.

Yes it will....but you'll need to call your insurance agent. It also might be a good idea to look into installing a drogue chute.
Here's one installed on my friend's BMW.

Pirelli and Michelin both make them for your scoot.
You will need to purchase the 'band-puller' or you'll tear up your lawn furniture trying to get it on without.
Just sayin'

Excellent info!!

I'll order a band puller, some blinker fluid, and a left handed, metric Cresent wrench so I can save on postage.

One of my favorite quotes comes from "Ghosts of Scooter Trash Past" by Mark Tiger Edmonds.  I don't have the exact quote, since I was reviewing the book for my blog, but this exert should give you the general idea.

[A] chipmunk broke from the cover on one side of the road and ran across it.  We both came to an abrupt halt right there in middle of the remote thoroughfare.  To begin with, chipmunks are not native to this part of Florida.  Secondly, this on was about three feet tall and scampered on its two hind legs.  And it was wearing what appeared to be smaller chipmunks on its feet."  He describes seeing a skunk follow the chipmunk and the unmistakable sound of Disney like cartoon music with someone screaming "You are all HAPPY animals."

"I feared," Edmonds writes, "this was the dreaded flashback we heard about."
