General Discussion / Re: First ride of year on my K-Pipe
« on: May 07, 2024, 03:29:42 PM »
glad you're back in the saddle, again!

I honestly thought I was due for a hip replacement or surgery to remove bone spurs. After my ride yesterday, I moved a small amount of firewood (15-20 cubic feet at most) and I'm in pain again, massage at PT this afternoon will help that

General Discussion / First ride of year on my K-Pipe
« on: May 06, 2024, 11:30:17 PM »
been looking forward to riding, been in physical therapy for a couple months with the goal of throwing my leg over my motorcycles without a step up. Successful, the first 4-5 weeks didn't seem like I was really getting anywhere, last 2 sessions, throwing my leg over a huge beach ball atop a 5 gallon pail, was my workout

It worked, I easily get my leg over the K-Pipe's relatively high seat for the size bike it is, I think I can even mount my V-Strom now

the Zongshen 190cc fired right up as if it was already warmed up, and without any choke or throttle, I had forgotten how much quicker it is over the original Kymco 125cc. I rode around town (rural roads) and hour or so, till I was reminded that I want to change the saddle

my AK550 that I thought was on a battery tender all winter was on a GFI circuit that popped, battery completely flat, I have another on the shelf, a Yuasa GYZ series, I have a flat SAE pigtail for battery tender access, but I'm gonna add a remote battery jump post kit, BS removing windshield, mount, front panel, probably dead battery in my fob too.

Side By Side / Re: High RPMs low Speed issue
« on: May 06, 2024, 01:24:43 AM »
sounds like an issue, not familiar with the 700, is it just hi/low like the 450i, or a 3 speed?
I get nearly 30mph in low range, and 48 in high and I can do it pulling a 1000lb toe behind backhoe

General Discussion / Re: Luggage Rack For Kymco Kpipe?
« on: May 04, 2024, 12:55:53 AM »
another project of mine that hasn't happened yet, I want to replace the stock saddle with a solo saddle, and custom rack behind it.

my more immediate project is installing the steering damper I bought for it, with my 190cc engine, frame stiffness has become a concern, just got it out of barn and started her up for the first time since October, this afternoon

Your local dealer parts counterman may be your best bet if you're within the USA.
Stig

always been my go to. however I don't visit the parts dept as much as the service dept. and my local dealer service dept ain't afraid to use non oem parts when there are availability problems (specifically aftermarket ball joints for my UXV450i) and they installed the Zongshen 190cc engine in my K-Pipe for me

When I started this thread - the first one I thought of was old randyo.
I just knew he was coming with something really weird...like a pair of sheep, a half a tractor or a garden plot on the back of his bike!

"...the queen in my pocket"!!

Thanks randy!

Aww Hawk, now you've got me worried.  I had fond memories of the restaurant.  Have they gone downhill then?

I stopped at one on a trip once, I told myself, never again, but then one opened up locally, so I went there to see what the fuss was about

Mexican, and Fast Food don't go together, I will starve first

I came here in 2015 after I bartered my UXV450i from my dealer, never thought I'd ever own a scooter, I'm an adventure bike guy, but around 2019, I kept walking past a 2016 K-Pipe my dealer had on consignment, one day I had some cash burning in my pocket, made a ridiculously low offer, and to my surprise, it was accepted, Kymco # 2

by 2022 all this scooter talk got to me, now I am a full fledged scooter owner 2022 AK 550, Kymco # 3

a package of honey bees in a Stanley Fat Max tool box bungeed to the back of my V-Strom, 75 miles from my bee supplier to home, and a few hobo bees tagged along for the ride (probably assimilated to the queen I had in my pocket)

I looked at the pit bike market for modifications for my K-Pipe, I replaced the 125cc after I toasted it, with a 190cc, now it's stoopid fast, hafta stiffen the spaghetti frame, get a steering damper mounted to use all the power, from a measly 8 stock hp to 17, gets scary above 60, still has more to go at 70 but I'm too scared

« on: April 21, 2024, 06:27:25 PM »
I always just bring my bike to the dealer.  If I were to do my own tires, I have several friends that have tire machines, My local dealer even installed a car tire for me on my V-Strom when I went darkside. I did go to a friend once with a set of atv wheels, and used his machine.

Working on my toys is not the way I want to bond with them.

General Discussion / Re: Solar Eclipse over my Piaggio
« on: April 09, 2024, 01:49:18 AM »
no pics here, 96% totality, I ha a PT appointment, brought my solar filter from mt survey instrument, I was inside at peak, my GF was outside waiting, she watched it thru my filter. Not the big deal for me as others, I've seen total eclipse thru 32x scope in past. Watching on tv is just as exciting, maybe more with higher x scope

True.  It's a bit of a lottery as to whether or not you get a Friday afternoon or Monday morning model!

I think still, it's the driver going into questionable places, this is my son, he already went thru the mudhole in the other direction, the air intake was on the high side
