Like 50 2T / Malossi 47mm 70cc Piston Replacement

Popped a circlip last night while riding.. A ping noise and she slowly died. Piston and cylinder are toast. I have a spare cylinder but no piston.

Treatland is out as are all the other US scooter parts companies I tried.. Racing Planet has it but it's in the EU warehouse.. I'm not waiting a month. I'd rather buy a whole complete kit from Scooterpartsco.

Dynoscooter has one but it's listed for Malossi 31 7200. My kit is a 31 9987.

A search of 31 7200 tells me that's for a Dio kit. Think it'll fit mine?

Like 50 2T / OKO 21mm Carb

Any ideas on how to mount an OKO 21mm carb to my Like?

I found this: http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=200858549360&alt=web but the seller says it fits 28-32mm carbs. From my research the OKO 21mm is 35mm.. :/

An exhaust nut sheared off and the rattling made the whole exhaust fall off. I'm about a mile from home.. Is it safe to ride home without the exhaust attached?

Like 50 2T / Oil Sensor

Does the oil sensor only monitor oil levels in the oil tank? Does it monitor any other part of the oil system? The reason I ask is because lately my oil light has been coming on for a second or two when I go WOT from a dead stop. Oil tank is half full. I'm pretty sure my oil sensor is bad but just want to make sure this isn't a sign of something else like the oil pump dying or oil filter clogging.

I've got 7k on my Like 50. It ran like 28 to 32 on a good day. After adding a new exhaust the thing is a totally different animal. I'm doing 40 to 45 and a few times have passed the 45 on the speedo. Yeah I know the speedo isn't always accurate. But it's a big speed increase. I wonder if she's getting enough oil? Would it hurt to supplement the oil pump by adding a little oil into each tank of gas? Would the oil clog my mesh metal fuel filter?

Bad idea? Good idea? Won't hurt?

If so how much oil should I add?

I don't think the spark plug charts helped me very much.. It's either really rich or really lean?

Same spark plug just different lighting conditions.

Like 50 2T / Fuel Filter Leak?

I bought a new fuel filter and had a heck of a time getting those hoses on.. Especially the hose connected to the carb side.

I dried off that little panel under it multiple times and yet everytime after a ride I look and its wet again. Just damp not dripping wet. I don't see a leak or smell gas. My gas has also been going really quick lately. Not sure if thats related or from me upjetting and adding a new exhaust.

The fuel filter is a visu-filter 1/4" with 5/16" barb.

Anyone had the same issue?

General Discussion / 2 Stroke Oil

Right now I use Bel Ray 2T Mineral Engine Oil. The blue stuff with the guy on the scooter on it. Can anyone recommend an alternative that I can buy at AutoZone, O'Reilly or some other auto store? I'm nearly out and don't really want to wait 10+ days for it to be shipped to me.

Also is it ok to mix 2T oils? Can I run one brand and than a few months later switch to another brand?

Do I really need to invest in a new variator for better performance? Or is just buying roller weights ok? I guess I'm asking is the stock variator so bad it needs to be replaced? Ignore all the other possible engine mods. Just talking variators.

Any of you guys run larger tires? It's time for me to buy some new ones.

I'm thinking of changing out the front 120/70-12 to a 130/70-12 to match the rear tire.

Thoughts?

So I just finished installing a bigger jet for my first time! Boy do I feel good.  ;D I'm a real man now right?  :P

Anyway I removed the airbox restriction while I was in there.

All the threads I viewed said the restricted jet was a 78 and to upgrade to 82 or larger. So I installed a 90. I bought a bag of sizes to play with it.

To my surprise the jet I removed wasn't a 78 but a 70..  :o Now I'm having second thoughts about installing a 90. I just put it all back together and haven't tried starting it yet.

Like 50 2T / 2010 Like 50 2T Gear Oil Change

My owners manual is ripped and maybe even missing pages... The page I did find on gear oil only mentions 1 screw.

Do I change the gear oil all via that 1 screw on the middle right? And suck it out and refill with a syringe. Or do I do like I see in all the other scooter videos? The 2 screw method. A bottom drain screw and the middle right refill screw.

I found the inspection screw (middle right) but don't want to just start unscrewing screws to maybe find a drain screw...

Do I need to take my variator off to know for sure if I have an unrestricted drive boss? I looked and felt it in place and it looked and felt smooth. Or is the possible restricted spot hidden in the housings on the left or right side?
