Title: ..cdi trials..
Post by: wordslinger on October 18, 2010, 11:06:18 PM
..so, knowing that the 2001 was much faster than the 2007, i wanted to swap cdis, to see what difference it would make in the performance of the 07..

..the 01 cdi in the 07 made the scoot accelerate much quicker, idle was smoother and it started easier...all repeatedly.....

..however, it ran 5 mph slower on top speed??...repeatedly...

..th' pics below are of the two cdi units..

..the 01 is first, then the 07...

Hmm...at first glance they looked to be the same part #. Zombie posted links (somerwhere) for that Suitai company. Their web site might give info on the D411. I'm not sure if the TYC-D421 is the same company though. Do you know? TYC might be a company name or part of a part#... :-\

..i'm pretty sure that suitai and tyc are two different entities..

..also assuming that D411 and D421 are different builds, or profiles, if you will, of cdi programming...

Hey, wordslinger...looks like you got the same CDI as Shaka on that TYC one. Check here about halfway down the page:

That's strange!  Mine has the # TYC-D421 on the front of it.  It has 6 wires

...however, the ppl has only 4 wires...

Maybe someone tried to swap one out for one they could derestrict?

But...if the '01 was less restricted then why would it allow faster acceleration but not gain as much speed?

This is odd all the way around, lol.

This is odd all the way around, lol

..yes it is...

..i bet that if i swap the pipe AND the cdi, and increase my jet, then the 07 will perform closer to what the 01 did...

That could be interesting. It's nice to have a spare, isn't it? You can try out all kinds of things now.

It might be catching - I'm starting to obsess about that Super 8 2t.

I didn't realize the Super8 was a 2t. Hmm. I sat on one a week or two ago. They had it at the pawn shop near the dentist's office. It was really cool!

Dang...I didn't know it. I bet they are easier to find than that Super9. They both air cooled, oswaldters?
Title: Re: ..cdi trials..
Post by: oswaldters on October 19, 2010, 03:17:28 AM
Yes they are both air cooled and 49cc.

Seems pretty similar in many respects - although the 2T weighs .5 lb less and the seat is .5 of an inch lower.  It also cost $100 more new.

Would be worth it for a shorty like me.  :D

What color you thinking about?

Oh, and the wheelbase on the 2T is an inch shorter.

The 2T is a 2011 model - so probably no used one around yet.

As for color, I'd probably take whatever I could get.  If I had a choice, I'd probably go with the yellow and blue - stands out better for visibility.

Yes, it does stand out. I think it's more noticeable than the green even. Would be cool if you could go online and choose any colors you liked and upload graphics and design your own.

I'll probably see one this weekend.

I'm going to be stopping by a scooter shop for some stuff for the Agility and believe they have some S8 2Ts in stock.

Advanced timing = Low End Power.
Retarded Timing = Top End Speed.
Its all in the timing curve which is controlled by the CDI

Has your exhaust been replaced or de-restricted?  That's one major difference in the new People 2t versus the old.  You'll also want to re-jet the carburetor when switching the pipe.

..im going to but the exhaust from my 01 ppl on it...

..as well as the carb and intake..which are both larger diameter...

..just not until i get the a50 back up...
