General Discussion / Re: Hey Karl....

I will stop in for a Load test with these old batteries. Thinking of keeping one and carrying it under the seat of my Piaggio - in case the Piaggio's little battery gets nervous some time next winter.

I purchased a lithium jump starter for the Medley as I am worried about it's small 6 ah battery and keep it in under the seat for if and when needed.  It also has a good led light and 2 USB ports for recharging.  One thing I was happy about when I looked at the Medley's battery is that it is a Yuasa battery.

Paul, I'm coming over.
We can wax our Piaggios, make pasta, and talk 6ah batteries!
Which side of the road do you drive on?....in Mad Max it didn't seem to matter. So...?

Yes I have noticed that unless there are a lot of street lights you can only see the headlight/s and not the rider.  That's another reason I got the Medley and why I first purchased my Like as they have high positioned headlights.

I ride everyday no matter what the weather is as my scoot is my only transport but luckily it only gets down to around 37 degrees farenheit in winter where I am living.  Don't think I would enjoy early morning starts in the snow or ice.

I took my Piaggio Medley into the dealer last week for it's first service and noticed on the invoice that they had used a semi synthetic oil.  When I asked why didn't they use a full synthetic the answer was that it didn't need it, only real large capacity engines benefited from full synthetic.  Cost saving for sure.

Groms are very popular over here but mainly in the city.   Well done to the Kiwis.

General Discussion / Re: Riding a light big-wheel scooter

After riding my big wheel Medley I don't think I could go back to a Like again as the ride difference is amazing.  Must admit though the Vespas that I have ridden may be small wheeled but are very good on the roads but I suppose for how much more they cost this is to be expected.

My Medley is going in for it's 1,000 km service on Wednesday.  Really enjoying this scooter.

General Discussion / Re: Do you wear earplugs?
« on: August 13, 2018, 05:43:33 AM »
I have worn earplugs when I have had helmets that let a lot of noise in especially wind but my new ones are quite good except for my work riding helmet as that does suffer from wind noise.  I do keep earplugs under the seat if I do need them.  If I was doing high speeds then I would definitely wear them.

That is sad that someone complained.  >:(   At least now you can have a bit more security and not have to worry about someone doing damage.  By the way, that yellow on the Vespa is great, really stands out.

Don't think you can beat those Vespa mirrors for a good view.  Might had to think off doing that myself with the Medley.

That worries me with my Piaggio Medley as well. If something goes wrong and the local dealer needs to order a part from Italy then I will be without transport for a few weeks.  I thought I would solve this by buying a small second hand 2012 PGO Ligero (Metro for USA and Canada) as a backup.  It has only done a couple of thousand kilometers but when I took it too my local shop for a check over they said it needed new rings (2 stroke) and I had to order then from Thailand as they importer here stopped his business.  So now I waiting at least 2 and a half weeks for the rings and gaskets to get here, plus freight was expensive.  Unfortunately that is the problem with scooters, the market in Australia is not big enough to keep all the spares here.
