« on: August 12, 2020, 02:21:26 PM »
Hey guys, check this out. 2007 Grand Vista with only 43 miles. Guy bought it and kept it in his garage for 13 years. What a deal.

While it's a super clean low mileage I think for the price is a little high. If the guy was willing to deal it would make a good scooter for someone.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

The worst scooter I ever bought had 183 miles on it: it was an '80's Honda Elite that sat for 20+ years. The tank was rusted, the tires rotted, the carb clogged, etc. Better to get one that was ridden regularly, even though it has some miles on it.

I wasn't interested in purchasing it, but I just thought it was an interesting find some of you guys would like to see. I can certainly understand the concerns about it sitting so long.

BTW, it sold! So, somebody obviously jumped on it.

It is a bit ridiculous how people think that time does not matter and standing useless is a benefit. And pricing it way out of line on "average".
Maybe there is a market for overpricing, who knows worth trying or not.
My example is from here: https://www.nettimoto.com/kymco/like/2570864
Like new, but a bit broken :)
Just look at the market and see what you can have with that much of money.
Well, always been and always will I guess.

I agree a lot of the used scooters seem to be priced high by their owners. I've been watching them lately because I'm thinking about getting a Super 8 150 in the spring. The price of a brand new Super 8 150 is $2,299, and you'd be amazed at how many people with used ones think they are going to sell them for $2,000 or even more. Maybe they will find someone crazy enough to pay that, but if you think 5 or 8 years and a few thousand miles doesn't depreciate your bike more than a few hundred bucks, you're crazy. And yes, I realize a new bike is probably going to cost you more than MSRP once you pay dealer fees, but then again, I was able to get my 2018 UXV 450 for considerable LESS than MSRP simply because it was a leftover. The way I see it, I'd gladly pay up to $500 more for a brand new machine with a full two-year warranty than buy used.

I also think a big part of it is that people purposely put high prices on their machines with the expectation that buyers will want to negotiate. In my experience, money talks, and if you are looking for a used machine priced at $2,000, you have a pretty good chance of getting it for $1,500 if you show up with cash in hand.

My two cents...
