Yet Another Tire Question

Hi Guys and Girls. Your old friend Mr Kymco is in da house =]

Question: Can I fit a 130/70-12 on my front wheel (A125) without adverse affects? It calls for 120/70-12 front, as you may well know. And of course the aforementioned 130/70-12 on the rear. But I has TWO 130/70-12's coming, so just wondering?  Might be more in the pipeline, too.

smaller front tire = maneuverability

bigger front tire = stability at high speeds

go figure.... ;)


The difference between the sizes you mentioned is the tire height. One is 91mm and the other is 84mm, a difference of 7mm.

i wouldnt wanna take it round a corner thats for sure. agilitys are great round corners so you may as well build on that. i have conti twists on mine and the handling is pin sharp.

I'm digging the SL26's I just put on, waaaaaaaay more grippy then the stock ones.  The OEMs I could feel slip in the turns.  I run the pirellis to about 5 mil from the edge while hitting the twisties.  They don't last as long, but at forty something for a tire.... no big...... plus they seem to roll smoother.

outstanding replies, guys. thanks. i am on my second set of OEMS and the rear is showing the wear indicators at 5,000 miles. so its gone. i managed to get TWO Vee Rubber 130/70-12 VRM 100's for $60, shipped. this is quite the deal I understand

so, i was wondering about throwing 'em both on, front and rear. BUT, I think the current front OEM is good for another, oh....3500-4,000 miles if the first set was any indication. so, I figure just use one right now for the rear, and once the rear is done again the front will be ready for change, or changed just prior. so, i am going to hold one tire back for when i need it again for the rear and buy a matching front when the time comes

I'm going to be putting the Pirelli SL26s 130/70-12's on front and back of my Agility 125 in the next week or so. Still riding with stock with about 5k on the mileage. Good to hear that the Pirelli SL26s are working out.

I just wish there was some way to get a more plush suspention on my Agility. I've tried running lower air pressure, and that helps, but I prefer the slightly better milage with the tires at higher PSIs.

I wrote before how shocked I was with the comfort upgrade I got with Michelin City Grips so that's what I end
up recommending to anyone looking for a softer ride.

Other then that, the front forks loosen up with time, and at over 10.000km, the Agility got acceptably comfortable
for me. I also ran the front tire just a bit under recommended pressures, but I tend to do that on all my bikes.

The weather has been so nice - I trusting my stock Chen Shings! Just 3,000 miles on them. I have a couple round-abouts on my way to work that are the highlight of my commute (when it is dry)    :)
I now have all the blemishes in the road on my commute memorized. I think today, I managed to miss every major blemish without working too hard. I have been keeping my pressure pretty high, and the ride is still OK. Good to know that when reach close to 10,000, the ride should be even better. I was going to try some shock lube on the front shocks (and then maybe add shock boots?) But I heard it would does not make any difference.

I'm going to get the Pirelli's I already bought mounted soon. It will cost me about $90, but that includes taking off wheels off, balancing, the works at Ducati Bellevue. I do hope the ride AND grip are improved. I pretty much know that grip will be improved.

I like Michelins a lot. I'll consider them more seriously next time.
