Title: Another one down, permanently
Post by: CROSSBOLT on April 30, 2017, 08:12:25 PM
Two lane road headed east in a residential area. Crest of hill is 150 feet or less from impact, posted speed 35 mph. Resident backs out of driveway turns slightly to head west has NOT crossed centerline at time of impact. M/C rider veers to his left to cut inside or to the left of car front only to collide with left side of car. Rider is dead at the scene. Car occupant(s) condition unknown. Time of impact well after sunset robably around 9 to 10 pm last night, Apr 29.

Opinions:
Cycle probably faster than posted.
Neither operators could see the other because of limited sight distance.

So sorry to hear that Karl. There is an element of danger involved in bike riding. Simple physics has the deck stacked against the bike rider, your fault, their fault, or nobodies fault. When a bike tangles with a cage or any fixed object, the bike loses, hands down, every time. We cannot be too safety mined and a little prayer for safety doesn't hurt either. Prayers for the biker's family and anyone else injured. Thanks for sharing Karl, it help us think safety.

Was there any mention if the rider wore a helmet, or other gear? More sad news for us riders. Hills and turns are always dangerous, or anything place were line of sight is impaired.

stay safe, everyone.

Will update when more info appears. Visiting the crash site was very informative. Markers were well done by the deputies.

UPDATE: City cop noticed something about tags on the motorcycle, flashed the roof lights and the rider took off. He crested the hill, went airborne and collided with a car turning into the residential driveway. Front porch witness saw the airborne impact and had the rider and motorcycle land in his front yard. Time was 9 pm. Funeral was yesterday.

They just don't stop to think of the consequences and how it affect their loved ones, what a shame.

There aren't any words for something like this. Didn't have to end that way, especially if it was something minor that made the rider run.
