Side By Side / Re: Snowplowing

vertical helps a lot. now I have to move some of the washers on the skids to lower the plow a bit

on another note, when I went out to plow yesterday, my 450i has been sitting a couple weeks, some heavy rain one day, and frigid weather the rest of the time. Started right up as usual, but wouldn't move, something froze up in the drive line, a screeching belt.  I used the winch to jar the 450i, it worked, started working normal

again, a blister on my thumb, shifting from forward to reverse to forward, and repeat

A few years back had a similiar situation after plowing snow.  The snow was rather slushy and as usual it was up into the drive boots and around the axles where it froze !!  All that slyshy snow froze !!  Next outing the nachine didn't move, tried rocking but it was stuck !!  Brought out my salamander heater and a tarp, covered it and let the heater do its job.  An hour later all was good,  I make it a point to blow out all the snow from the boots with a long airgun, never had that issue again.   However, reading another similiar post on another forum, that owner tried forcing his machine after a similiar freezeup, and he ended up tearing all his rubber boots which of course had to be replaced !!!   Ouch...lots of work ...so be carefull next time and be sure you dont have any buildup around the boots!

Just being verticle might not be enough.  I have saw some lite weight blades have the top edge forward of the bottom so in theroy causing the blade to dig in more.  Might be worth a shot, otherwise add some extra weight to your blade.

Some thing else to look at is the angle of the blade when looking from the side.  On my blade the top edge and bottom edge are the same vertically.  Some blades have the bottom edge forward of the top which makes the blade slide up and over with less digging in.  When the top edge is forward of the bottom edge, it can cause the blade to dig in deeper into the snow. Most blades I have saw have this tilt adjustment on them.  Mine is set to dig a little deeper but I have large feet that are adjusted to keep the blade about 1/2 - 3/4" off the ground, so I dont dig up my gravel driveway.  Nothing worse than having to rake stones out of your grass in the spring !!!

Cant say what all has changed on the 2017 models, but on my 2015, the switches that activate the lights for the shifter are inside the xase where the shift mechanism goes. On my unit, adjusting the linkage can make those lites come in or go off deoending on position of shifter.  On mine, when the reverse lite comes on, my machine is not actually full reverse and if I adjust for full reverse engagment, then the light won't work...  I woukdn't think the ecm would control this, however....what has changed over those two years??

well doesn't that depend on the quality of yer monitor and or printer

now that I received my paper manual, I wish I'd just got a pdf download and printed and bound it myself (not complaining about the spiral binding)

Once I realized just how many pages were involved in printing, I thought the price of 45 bucks was pretty cheap to pay for a hard copy, when I considered paper and ink costs.  Didnt want to take the chance of another online company going down the tube. If the day ever comes where the machine goes up for sale, having a manual can make a good sales point, at leastvthat has been the case in other toys I have sold.....

?? for anyone who may have added some weights to their plow, so that it can dig better into heavy rained on snow, rather than ride up over it.

I'm peeved at my auto mechanic, who has had my Tacoma since October, to replace the power steering pump, and repair exhaust leak in the left bank, maybe just a gasket, maybe warped exhaust manifold, with that I'd be using that to plow with a bigger heavier (Curtis) plow
Not sure what type of plow you have, but I have a Pile Driver and that thing is heavy!!! Very heavy....it tajes to men to pickup the plow blade- push tube assembly !!!  Never had an issue with it riding up and over unless solid ice.  My old cycle country plow on my ATV was light weight so I added a piece of steel pipe to thevtop of the blade for added weight.  It helped but didnt solve the issue.   Would have been easier to bolt a heavy piece of angle iron to the top but pipe was all I had at the time...You need weight on the blade itself or right behind the blade on the push tubes to gain down pressure

Back in 2016 I bought the lifetime plan for my Kymco 450i UTV.
Shortly after purchased the hard copy factory service manual, just in case something would happen to the online version. Have opened a couple tickets in past years, honestly not much help !!  The best thing they did was to give me the phone number to the main shop for Kymco down south.  They were helpfull but that was over 5 years back.

Here in Ohio, the bike rider would be cited for not driving in an approved lane.  Riding on the center line between lanes is a no no!

I have an auto repair shop close by that I use and recomend.  He is a small independent shop, does great work and hasvtreated me very well over the past 10 years I have used him.  He charges 80 per hour and is making money hand over fist, always busy and pays his people better than any other shop in the area except the big dealerships. He has stated he doesnt understand how these service shops get away with charging so much, he has the same overhead, same computor diagnostic equipment, same pay for employees etc. Yes...he is always busy where the more expensive shops have far more free time which is probably why they charge more to cover the free time !!  No winder people are doing so much leasing nowadays....just keeping the vehicle thru the warranty period so there are no repair bills then turning the vehicle back in before repairs begin!!  Dealers are pricing themselves out of business, no way can they justify the 125 bucks per hour when they only pay their help 25-30 per hour if that !!  The machine shop where I worked can only get 100 per hour for labor and they have nunerous quarter million dollar CNC machines to pay for, I dont see any quarter million dollar pieces of equipment at an auto repair center !!   The charge that rate because they can !!  No wonder people are learning to do their own repairs !!

Is it fuel injected?  They are notorious for causing issues after running out of fuel.  If carbed, then check the pump as suggested.  I have the 450 model so cant help.

I use all NGK plugs in my machine, same that came with it.  In fact mine is original with 2200 miles on it.  I also use the seafoam fuel additive, have used it for years.  I pour it in the fuel as a cleaner and stabilizer. Helps overcome moisture in the tank and helps keep that steel tank from rusting.  Also use it in my lawnmower, both outboard motors on my boat as well as both snowblowers!!  Good stuff !!   My coolant tank plug also cracked so bought a plug with a snap top at local Menards.  They have a selection of different sizes, sort of looks like an old time thermos plug.  The 3/4" size works if you adjust the expansion as large as possible...  Keep us posted on what you find...

I have a nephew that sell new cars, accirding to him, sales are better than they appear !   Gone is the haggling that we used to do as about 75% or more are now leases.  He sells more vehicles online, than with actual face to face customers..  In fact about 30% of his sales, he never meets the customer, only over a computor !!
About 20% of his sales are shipped to another city or state.  No lonfer dobyou go onto a lot and pick your vehicle, there is one of each model type for you to look at, sit in, or test drive, then you go to a computor to pick out your vehicle from a limited supply online or create a special order.  Some folks actually order and take possesion of a vehicle where certain functions dont work due to chip shortages !!  Customer must return to dealer to have his chip installed when it arrives, sometimes that can be 6 months or longer...different world out there !!!!

the tires I run have sipes

Sipes are great for wet pavement, not only channels water away but allows the rubber to move sort of like a squeege on the road !!!

It's already started I know those things are good it's a electronic problem I have the online repair manual bout not much in it about ecm

Wow...my printed manual on my 450i does have a small trouble shooting area but not a whole lot.  I have found some differenxes between the online and the printed version, which is why I bought both....hopefully prepared if any issues occur !!!  From my reading there is little to trouble shoot on ECM's, most have just tried swapping with a known good one and see if that makes a difference
