I'm talking about these things....
There are lots of them for sale - anyone recommend one?

I don't want to spend over $100.
A good set of heavy gauge jumpers cables are not cheap - and require you to find a willing donor battery.
Plus I can carry it in my scooter, or the truck.
I'd rather carry one of the little jump boxes. Any serious draw backs to using them?

I’ve seen them and haven’t thought about getting one but it might be wise to do so. Considering we can’t get a jump from a full sized vehicle. All I have at home are battery tenders.

Well, some say we can jump a scooter with a car hook-up. Just have to make sure the car is not running while doing so.
But I'm no expert.

Be leery of the cheap ones. These are Lithium Ion Batteries so they don't like sitting discharged and will often do so at places like the Home Depot and Lowes. I returned a couple of those before I picked up the one I have off Amazon.
I have an Antigravity Micro-Start(tm). An older model so I'd peruse their newer ones and buy it off Amazon or something (A bit cheaper).

Bonus on the one I have is that it's a pretty decent flashlight and I can charge my phone off it.
Works great on the bikes a couple cars and my truck once.
The only time it failed me was on a shorted battery recently, wouldn't register it was hooked up, but that's the nature of a short so not much for it.
Jumping from cars? Yup done it. Best to have the car not running. I have a pair of bike sized jumper cables kicking around from before I got the Micro-Start(tm).
There are some other nifty ones out there, particularly the NoCo units which will sell ya a pigtail that'll let ya not have to use the clamps to jump your bike.
My only gripe with them is their stuff is proprietary vs. SAE connectors.
Do remember that these are LiIon Batteries at their core so they don't like being below 40F for long periods of time & you do need to charge 'em now and again.
Caveat Emptor of course folks my info's accurate but it's been a couple years since I've taken a close look at what's outthere.

I've done this many times and it works perfectly as long as the car is not running. Be careful with the positive lead to not touch any of the metal body work!

These are not designed for long cranking times. The leads and clamps are light duty and will overheat if you crank too long. I've never experienced this issue.

I keep one handy for those long stretches here in KL when the scooter hasn't been started. It's brilliant and makes a great phone charger as well.

BTW, "KL" is the brevo for Kuala Lumpur (I looked it up), but "Bisbee" is a city in Arizona.
So, you are whence?.....just curious....

FYI: flights from Tucson airport to Kuala Lumpur run @$850, flight time is @ 23h 12m...and after the 19h mark they are out of milk and cashews, both.
But you know that already -

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia indeed. 11 years working here and wrapping up in June. Headed back to home in Bisbee for retirement, with a few months a year in Chiang Mai Thailand. Between our 3 "homes" we have 9 scooters.i don't look forward to downsizing.

The first thing I did when I got my X-Town 300-i, was direct wire a Battery Tender pigtail to the battery, that exits out behind my licence plate.
Anytime the bike's not being used, I plug it in. Makes a world of difference in battery life.
