The Piaggio BV350 is a very nice highway ride. It easily cruises at an indicated 75 MPH and is pretty okay in windy conditions.

Conservative: To save what one has. Instead conservatives destroy what they have and can't be saved from their own self destruction.

I scoot around Napa and the wineries all the time. It's great fun during the week. If you're planning to do the Napa and wine country part of your holiday during the week, the scoot could work. Personally, I don't like the responsibility of driving large vehicles, not to mention one with a trailer. Certainly, if you're going to do the Napa part of you holiday during a weekend just bring the small car and save yourself for fun.
YMMV

Kymco owners seem to have at least one thing in common; We research scoot's from different countries and learn from other people that a scooter made in Taiwan could be a good one. Then, we have the courage to buy one for ourselves and find that having an open mind is a good thing.

I love the look of that DT in Kawasaki green.
No, not in America.

I'm riding it to Napa in a few minutes for lunch.
Looking forward to the handling as the road has ~200 turns and is great fun.
Comment: Locking the forks with the key is a PITA. There seems to be something stopping the key from rotating smoothly. No, it's not that the forks aren't in the right position, etc.

I rode the DT 300 and BV350 back to back and purchased the BV for two pretty clear reasons; ABS and the more solid feel. I'm a real fan of Kymco and found the decision came down to the above verses the known reliability of Kymco products. I had just sold a Vespa 250ie based on its lack of reliability and funky design elements (hard to work on and lack of quality OEM parts). In the end the ABS and solid feel carried the day. So far, I'm very happy with the BV's ABS and handling and less excited with some design details that would not have been found on the People (funky mirror mounting design and hard to get to, hose clamps and spark plug cap need to be replaced, out of the box).
If the BV turns out to be unreliable or to have high and difficult maintenance it will be gone. I would replace it with a Kymco (300-550 size) or Yamaha product (300-530 size).
Happy scooting!

I LOVE MGP and its support races. Have been to one-star state for F1 and WEC and plan to make a MGP someday. Watching MGP bikes move through the back esses will be a treat indeed. COTA is a beautiful venue.
I'm waiting for the one-star state to lose the race (and others?) when they quit receiving state support and have to run without the people's tax money. Attendance for some pretty big international events is not large enough for the investment, I fear. From my west coast vantage point, the one-star state doesn't have enough draw to sustain ongoing international race series for the long term. Austin is fun with music and meet-eating but that may not be enough to encourage people to return regularly and pay the ticket prices. BTW, Austin and COTA are not inexpensive places to visit. Prices are right in there with anything we have on the west coast.
Maybe MGP will return to Laguna Seca (hopefully!). Back to its natural home. There's a great deal to do within 5, 10, 25, 100, 200 & 300 miles of the track.
The USA is pretty provincial when it comes to international norms (metric system, national health insurance. "Football". many forms on non-circular motorsport, etc.). However, I'm proud of our leadership in many areas over the decades (social security, groundbreaking freedoms for minorities, environmental leadership, public education and universities, public parks, etc.).
Enough from me, already...

I've been impressed with Taiwanese products ever since I purchased 2006 People 250 and found the quality to be quite good. I started looking more closely at country of origin for other items and found that across the board, Taiwan is building nice products.
I like the comments at GM building a scoot' and Tesla going into the biz. It's going to take an Elon Musk or a ground up company to go into the business before we see anything. We've seen some action in the motorcycle market for US products that are not HD. Mostly shoestring operations. The shoestrings for a scooter company would be smaller than a motorcycle. Maybe it's possible. Maybe the most likely firm would be Genuine. They sell many scoot's from Taiwan. At some point they may find that manufacturing their own scoot' is possible and attractive here.

He did not win the general election.
He IS a loser in so many ways, and, yes he won the college vote.

The man doesn't deserve any chance beyond the many that he's had to come clean and tell the truth.
He thinks he's a dictator and he's very insecure. Like a little boy when he doesn't get what he wants.
What a whining loser and bum...

Roadcraft / Re: Types of roads in US/UK
« on: November 30, 2016, 05:30:09 PM »
There's no national standard with respect to normalizing of roadways as you have in the UK. If you follow the speed limit in any state, +~9 MPH, you'll generally be in the flow of traffic and left alone by the constabulary. There are occasional drivers driving slower and faster. Our police often ignore slow driving while becoming excited when confronted with fast (~+10 MPH to limit) drivers.
Roads are "all" scoot-able if your scoot' is up to the speed of the flow of traffic. Road conditions vary quite a bit depending upon tax support. Road taxes are gathered from numerous sources, depending upon area. Federal dollars support many road projects and are often awarded to connected elected officials. (We appear to be enacting/returning to earmarking federal laws which are bound to create even more lopsided funding (didn't we rid ourselves of earmarks for this reason?).)
Portland and Oregon drivers sometimes seem in a trans. Slow driving is often the norm except on the occasional stretch of highway near Portand.
