New Belt
« on: June 27, 2018, 09:20:48 PM »
Evening Everyone!

I'm in need of a new belt and Kymco dealers in the UK are less than helpful. Does anybody have a part number and manufacturer they could recommend for me, please? :)

I think I can get Malossi from Italy but I'm open to any other suggestions!

Cheers

Most of us use stock Kymco belts on our LIKE's.
No worries about exact lengths and widths if you buy stock....plus they last a long time, and if they fail they tend not to destroy things in the CVT like some kevlar belts do.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I would prefer original Kymco but I'm really struggling to find one

I used a Malossi kevlar belt on my S, ran it about 3k miles before selling it.
No issues to report, worked fine, but that wasn't a real long term assessment.
I did double check it and the rest of the mechanical before selling so I can say that with reasonable assurance.

Far as where to get one, or what I'd guess would be an OEM Bando...
I've had good luck with the U.S. version of this outfit.  Caveat Emptor, Carpe Diem, Carpe Carp, your results may vary & don't try this at home kids of course..

Should link ya to their belt selection.  They aren't the fastest in the U.S. but that's cuz they'll pull stuff from Europe for us & ship that about once a week.  Might be a bit quicker for you.

Hi Tromper, that's exactly what I needed, thankyou.

I managed to pick up an original Kymco belt for the Like200i on eBay in the end, but it was definitely a one-off so I'll be needing that link again :)

Recommended are Bando (OEM) or Mitsuboshi belts. Japan Quality and long lasting.

Parts Number:

Mitsuboshi   MI069
available from several online dealers in Europe.

Kymco Bando   23100-LCD4-E0A
(same belt as for the Kymco People 200i)
Probably only available via dealers. Or Ebay from China directly.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-KYMCO-BELT-for-KYMCO-PEOPLE-S-200-LIKE-200i/181826689786?hash=item2a55b71afa:g:MvAAAOSwBahVRfdm

But you can of course also use other brand belts with the proper specs (Malossi, Dayco, Gates etc.).
But in any case also be aware of the correct turning direction on installation (arrows).

As a guideline here are the "approximate" specs I found out so far (each belt differs a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer):

795mm to 799mm in lenght (outside circumference).
19.8mm to 20.5mm widht.
30° Angle

Be prepared for slightly different performance behaviour on each different belt.
These belts with slightly different lenghts and different widhts have direct influence on the gear ratio and top speed.

And try to find a relatively "fresh" one. Check - if possible - the manufacturing date of the belt. You wouldn´t want to buy a 10 year old belt as brand new. Would you?

Good luck!

Belt received from Taiwan. The service is excellent, but the manufacture date on the belt appears to be 2009...

Grounds to complain?

Hey Experts,

Is the belt size the same on a Like 150i and a Like 200i?
And if so what is the metric size for the 150i?

Thanks in advance

Hi Shalbern,

I'm afraid I haven't heard any information on that yet. I did however find out this morning that the belts fitted as OEM by Kymco are of the kevlar type - I'm assuming you don't want to go through a dealer if you are asking about sizes, however!

The Like 150i is brandnew on the market. I guess it´s too early to ask this. Even dealers wouldn´t know it yet.
But just as a guess I expect it to be equal, close or similar.  ;D

@Viper
Yes, Kevlar belt is always a good choice. For much better heat resistance and durability.

Manufacturing date is clearly stamped somewhere on the label/sticker of the OEM belt-bag.
No real need for talking about appearances... ;) :D

If it´s indeed 2009 then I would say it´s a "bit" (too) old. It´s a rubber product and does wear only with time also.
That´s why I recommended to ask the dealer via E-Mail before buying it.

Personally I wouldn´t want to buy a new belt older than 3 years.

But I am also aware of the "rubber dealers" methods: first in, first out.....  :-\

Robo
