me: waiting until the temp hit 40 F (4.4 C) with full sun and blue skies, yesterday afternoon, before going out for a ride.

Stig: cold, dark, rain, wind? Perfect!

You give me too much credit, Hawk.

I'd checked the weather earlier in the week - saw the overnight temp was predicted to be 54°F (!! - fully 20°F better than future nights)....and that rain was expected. Rain was coming in from the SW, so I would enjoy a nice strong headwind to help clear the drops on my helmet!

Radar prediction at 5AM...as I geared up.

At 5:20AM I share the road with only the odd deer; and in the village - the homeless street people, a couple of elderly exercisers and Kristine - the cute girl walking her Huskies,  Dino's opens at 6:45AM, the UnderDog and Tom's at 7:00.

Rainy streets at night are color filled!

I've had a few blastings from the rain this year, most notably a week ago on the Tuesday.

There's little in life worse than when the cold water begins to ingress to your a) feet or b) crotch :(

"absolut! es ist nicht viel lustig, wenn der Rhein in Ihre Shortens fließt!"

My German might be a little spotty - as my mother said we left Germany when I was 7 months old - but that I could cry in German.....and hum a few marching songs.

Translation:  Absolutely! It's not much fun when the Rhine flows into your Shortens!  I think Google means "Shorts"?

Had my own outing in torrential rain earlier, about an hour after labouriously cleaning all the winter mud & salt off the DTX.  It looked great for that hour, now it's as bad as ever again. :(  Can't be arsed to do it again today but maybe the enthusiasm will have returned by next week.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil
