ignition switch wiring help!
« on: March 19, 2013, 11:28:48 PM »
Hey guys, just picked up an agility 50 yesterday!  Nice scooter, and I got a great deal, came with a title, but no keys!!!  Im needing to know how the properly jumper the connector so i can see if it runs.  It has 2 green wires, 1 red, and 1 black.  I jumped the red to the black, and that gets me power for the horn and turn signals, and also gets me power to the starter.  But I cant figure out how to jump the others, or if i even need to.  It turns over good, but I have no spark.  Let me know if it should start this way, or if I need to jump some more wires.  Also, since I dont have the keys, I cant raise the seat, or put fuel in it.  Do you guys know any secrets to getting these open?  Thanks a lot,  Jp

if you have a yamaha dealer near you they can make a key for it. but you will have to take the bike to theam. you may have to brake the cap off the gas tank with a big screw driver.if you cant get a key made. try going to a scooter shop to see if you can buy the key switch with a new key.
any gy6 scoot key switch will work.

Never needed to.  All of my bikes and cars have keys...

Most traditional ignition systems operate similarly... Off - ACC - Start

Maybe you can Google "how to hot wire a car" and start from there...

Easy, buy a replacement ignition switch. Here in the netherlands they go for 50 euro's. Installing a new ignition switch will cost you 1 ~ 2 hours. Its mounted one normal bolt and one 'anti-theft' bolt. The anti-theft bolt can be removed by getting a ironsaw and making a little cut in the bolt. Then you take an hammer and hit a screwdriver into it until is secure enough to turn.  I needed to do this because my ignition switch was broken.
