Most of the stuff in the sig is current. I have the clutch dialed in a little better than I did at the track that day. Also I have the Leo Vince pipe on it. I keep forgetting to add it to the sig. Top quality gear oil and Maxima 927 2t oil. I have known that higher rpm would require me to tweak my timing a bit. It starts to predet at 10k+ and that is why I haven't run it all out yet. I would love to have a programmable cdi! If I get any extra funds soon, I'll be in touch, Zombie. Right now I'm happy with what it does. My Aprilia is getting all my money right now. I'm about to cross the 80mph mark with it. Another horsey or 2 and some steeper gears and I'm there.

That looks like a very solid daily driver. Nice combo.

have you tried or considered a Malossi Red Contra, or the Malossi Torsion control, and either 5 or 4.5 gr rollers w/ the blue spring?
W/ the shorter gears you can get a much better launch/ET by keeping a taller CVT ratio longer.

I have a similar gear set, and found the only way to get good take off is the Red Contra, and 3.5 Polini rollers. The bike takes off at 8.5-9K, and flies on the pipe (8.5-10k power band)
You're right about the PreDet too. The timing in all the available cdi's is too high(generally around 8*btdc @ 8-9k). You should be sloping down toward 2-3* by that point. I tried raising it again going toward 14k but it never did anything but lower the Exhaust gas temp. holding heat on the piston.

Congrats on the Ape. 80+ is a f***ing awesome goal. I know I could break 90 w/ the ZX if I stuck w/ it but blown up parts were getting into the $$$ range, and every fail hurt.
This thread is like watching a dope movie. Almost want to get back into the game... Almost! (least that's what I heard it was like...)

I have a question about the Molossi carb. Did it come with jets or did you order them separately?
I'm ordering the 19mm carb from SPI soon. I'm gearing up for a 70cc build, see "Just bought a new Like 50" thread. I want to make sure I have everything on hand. I'm getting all the parts and tools together, gonna prep it then bolt everything on. Any information or ideas would a big help.

Just the set of jets that come with the carb. 86 main I believe. The carb as it comes worked OK for me with the stock airbox. Once it is replaced with a pod filter, jetting of 100-120 is more appropriate. If you are getting the 20mm intake, it may need closer to 120.

I believe the Malossi carb is actually a Dellorto PHGB rebadged. My 19mm PHGB cage with the four stroke atomizer tube, it runs way better with the correct atomizer installed. You can tell by looking down the throat and where the needle goes there is a little half circle, that is the 2t if its flat 4t.

The Malossi carb I purchased came in a Malossi package, but is stamped with the PHGB on the side of it. I never thought to see what atomizer was in it. I'll have to look tomorrow. What exactly is the difference between the 2t and 4t atomizer?

The 2t has a c shaped cup to block the reverse charge a two stroke produces momentarily before the reeds close. Also the 2t has a closed tube where the 4t has holes to aerate the mixture. A two stroke engine needs a more fluid mixture because it has to travel pretty far to get to combustion. Look up phgb au262 and an262 to see the difference. Almost for sure yours comes with the an

So if I follow you, I would need to change out the mixer tube if I discover that it is an AN. (Holes in the tube). Are these interchangeable? Is it really that simple? I've been debating changing out carbs and intake anyway. If I go that route, any good recommendation on a 21mm flat slide?

Yeah you don't HAVE to change it, but really the an tube is meant for four stroke. Also, your jetting will change I went from a 98 main to a 90 on my zuma, but throttle response got a lot better. Maybe the Malossi one they already changed it but I doubt it. My Dellorto said "racing carburetor for two stroke" but had the 4t atomizer lol. From what I read, all of the phgb carbs were sent from Italy with the an setup.

The malossi kit is a PHBG. Not rebadged. Straight from dellorto. You do not need the 2t atomiser at least on the LIKE.

Like I said you don't NEED it, but it will help the motor run better.

Looks like I'm back to work on it. I was coming home yesterday and it stopped running like someone flipped a switch. It still has good compression, spark, but dry plug. I think my motor has eaten my new reeds. I'm going to pop off the intake later and have a look. Does anyone have any recommendations on carbon reeds that don't cost a fortune (like the Malossi at $30+) I don't really want to cut my own.

Ouch. Now even if there are no reeds, shouldnt the plug still get wet?

That's what I thought too. I'm just guessing at the problem at this point. I have been too busy to even touch it since it quit.I have 2 other scoots to play around on, so I'll let everyone know what I find when I get around to it.
