OK thanks fr your replies. I settled on the Prestone and I'll be doing the flush and new coolant job pretty soon.

motorcycle shops sell pre mix quarts of silicate free coolant designed for aluminum motorcycle engines..I know Honda has Honda HP Coolant and Kawasaki has it's Aluma Cool....excellent stuff, premixed, and reasonably priced for the quantities we're talking about.

I've settled upon Peak Global 50/50 for every scooter or motorcycle I have.
Wallgreens carries it so it's easy to find.

In Australia, they have a silicate-free 50% premix available in blue which I use.

Nulon Anti-Freeze / Anti-Boil Blue Premix Coolant 6 Litre. Silicate, borate and phosphate free formula, proven performance in aluminium, steel, cast iron, solder, copper and brass and safe for hoses, gasket and seals.
