Hey guys,

I was wondering if there's anybody in Southern Cal who knows anything about maintaining the Xciting 500 who's interested in giving me some lessons some time in the not so distant future?

My goal is to hopefully save some money and to meet fellow riders.

I corresponded with MJR a couple times but he seems to be unavailable now.

Thanks guys.

There's a few videos in this playlist that may help.

Thank you Sir,

very helpful. I am also looking for community based meetups in Southern California with other Kymco owners or owners of similar bikes (larger and faster maxi scooters).

Hey Clay! Check it out:

"There is a new yahoo group website for all SoCal Reflex and Maxi Scoot Riders: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SoCalReflexRiders/"

To quote organizer Dawn Loomis, it is "a place for Maxi Scooters in Southern California to learn about our monthly lunch/rides. We invite riders from Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernandino Counties. You DON'T have to ride a Honda Reflex. Any maxi-scooter is welcome!"

Happy scooting!

P.S.

Try this site: http://www.southbayscooterclub.com/southbaysc/newsletter.html

You can sign up for their newsletter. There is also a Long Beach Area Scooter Group that has a website.

Maybe I'll see you on a group ride? Mike (mjr)  often rides along too.

Is this primarily a maxi-scooter group? Sounds interesting. Are there freeway runs?

Did you ever get in touch with MR in Costa Mesa, CA? He is pretty sharp on maintenance and is close by.

Yes, Mike is a very talented guy who has done some high level mechanical and electrical work in the past. He helped me twice with Kymco problems and I am in awe of his expertise.

We talked a couple of times then the guy disappeared. No opportunity to meet. Not sure what happened.

I'm not sure either. Perhaps he's lost interest in the Kymco and remains more interested in the Burgman.

But he has not forgotten how to maintain stuff....

Of this I have no doubt.

The only thing is I cannot make the man want to help me.

I did ask, several times. And he does not seem available.
