Fit a parking brake ?
« on: September 17, 2017, 11:35:36 AM »
Going to post this around on some  scooter forums...
Any ideas how to fit a parking brake on the rear lever -- I have the necessary drum brake at the rear to make it work. Just need some type of locking device for the lever. I understand that Like 50's have a parking brake.... but none around here for me to look at.
Not keen on straps or rubber bands....just one more thing to fool with when preparing to move off while parked on an incline. A simple flick-off on the lever would be preferable.
Thx, Stig

If your rear brake is hydraulic , you don't want to lock the lever. If it's cable actuated then a lock similar to whats found on a four wheeler will work great. Keeping a hydraulic system in a pressurized condition is not good.

I should have said a hydraulic BRAKE system. Hydraulic cylinders are made to remain in a pressurized state, without damage to the rubber components.

You can buy a lever just like the one pictured and it slides and clamps right onto a 7/8" handle bar

looked up the part on ,   powersportswarehouse.com     and it looks like you need to call for price,   or buy all the parts for about $60.00   the kit price should be better

Any ATV shop will have then. Don't get on for a Honda or you'll be paying a reverse button that you don't need.
