If I didn’t need to go faster than 65 I don’t need a almost maxi, and that’s what the Xtown is.
Many other better choices for city scoots. I’ve ridden both plus the 400 and if you want a  ride capable of more than surface roads youll need the 400 to do the job of the old 300.

Here’s what the designers were looking for, $3999.00 and it’s not haveing the DT for lunch.
Why? Because on the way I’ll hit the highway and the xtown will have a hard time with that 70mph merge. I put 10,000 on a Downtown and many of those miles the new xtown won’t do.

Always been a kymco fan but this isn’t their best work.
Of course ya can’t tell if you haven’t ridden them.

AMAC

I'm with you ! The only trade(s)I'd consider would be the AK 550 or the XCiting 400.

Pardon the necropost...  ::)

Speaking of trades, on Monday, I am finally pulling the trigger on a brand spanking new Xciting 400i  ;D ;D

I'll be trading in my lovingly maintained, trusty Honda PCX. I'll miss her, but I'll be able to take the new baby just about anywhere.

No promises, but I hope to be posting some threads on future mods once the Service Manual is available.

Two things to consider...
1) The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese.
2) Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.

Absolutely, let us know how it runs, any mods, anything. There is very little real world info or reviews out there on this one.

The biggest issue I have so far, is that there is an obvious and significant lack of available accessories, information, and details. That's the trouble when starting with a brand new model-year, I think. I've managed to find a windshield, and bits for another mod I have in mind (but I need an accurate, model-year specific wiring diagram!) and that's about it. I haven't even found a service manual online anywhere. (In English, that is) I'm contemplating calling US-HQ in Spartanburg to plead for a published manual.

I most certainly will be posting about its operation, handling, etc. as they come up. I would like to ask everyone to please keep in mind that the only thing I have to compare it against is a Honda PCX.

I hope this turns out as well as I expect that it will.

the Xciting 400Ri  is $8K before taxes here in Canada. My local dealer has 5 already. Along with the Spade. No Like 150 yet.
Wow, at $8000 that puts this Kymco 400 square against a Burgman 400. No way a Kymco should be competing straight on with a Suzuki.
They gotta knock $2000 off that price....and they'll still make a nice profit.

If I understanding this correctly, the Canadian Dollar is worth 0.7923 USD.

So $8,000 Canadian is the equivalent of $6,338.49 US.

That means I must have gotten a tremendous deal on this brand new Xciting 400i, as I only paid $4,151.70 + $1,000.00 trade in for my Honda. Or rather, will pay it tomorrow.

Suddenly, I feel so much better now...

Until I saw Stig's post above, I had no idea how good a price it was!

Now if I could only get a Service Manual and find accessories/parts that easily!!

Yes, that's correct.  Essentially, I got it at cost. $5,151.70 total.

I just purchased a 2018 Xtown 300-I. I have to say that overall, I'm very satisfied with it. I paid $4800. out the door, tax, tags, the works.
Coming from a Super 8 150, I was at first a little disappointed in the performance, but as it's getting broken in & I'm getting used to it, it's more than adequate.
I've heard some complaints about the seat, which surprise me, because I've been riding & racing all kinds of bikes for over 55 years, and I think it's the most comfortable seat on two wheels.
I also like the suspension, sprung soft, but still handles as good as my Ducati. Storage space is good, but I added a large tail box, and was surprised to find four bronze, threaded lugs in the rear handhold for just such accommodation.
About my only complaint is with the windscreen. If it were just a little bit taller and shaped differently, you could avoid the wind blast that hits you right in the face at highway speed.
If anyone knows of any after market screens that are taller, please give me a heads up.

All I can tell you is avoid Ermax. I hated the installation. What took me 35 minutes on the Honda with the National Cycle screen I put on her, took me over four hours with the X400i and that Ermax abomination. It's about 3" - 5" too short. Wind blasts me right in the face off of it.

As to fitting an Ermax screen on a scooter...
I loved the screen....bought two for my Burgman 400, a clear and a smoked. Easy installation and I found it perfect for my likes. And the price and shipment were easy.
His is a different scooter than yours....perhaps he'd have an experience like mine? (some folks like the stock Burgman screen - I found it impossible over 30mph!)
