 I still have not heard anything about a U.S. release for these two scooters. All of the motorcycle mags/websites did a report on them, but still no news. The Spade and Like 150 are out. I wonder if they will wait until next year.

they might want to work on getting some new dealerships to sell them in.

 Looks like the Xtown 300 and Xciting 400i are here. The reviews from a few people that test rode the Xtown in Columbus, were not glowing. The seat was on the list of poorly designed items. The Xciting sounds promising though, from their descriptions.

the Xciting 400Ri  is $8K before taxes here in Canada. My local dealer has 5 already. Along with the Spade. No Like 150 yet.

I went down to the dealer yesterday to check out the 400i.  I found out that they had JUST received the Xtowns as well, one was built up already.
My biggest question about the Xtown has been, are the front footrests still too short for anyone that can sit on the bike without tipping it over?
The answer is NO, they have moved the footrests forwards, and it now sits exactly like the Xciting series of bikes.

Under seat storage:  Visually, the 400i has a similar amount to the XC250, which is to say a decent (not Burgman-200 like, where you can stash a dead body, but decent) amount.  The Xtown has even more, but its shape reminded me of the storage on the Forza (long/narrow).

Weight -> center stand:  The 400i is about as easy to put on the center stand as the XC250.  The 300i feels like a feather in comparison, and is extremely easy to put up, and I'm having a hard time believing that the bike weighs 430 lbs. based on how easy it was; I put all my 260lbs of weight on the center stand and almost thought that the bike was going to fly off the center stand due to how fast it got in the air.

Top speeds:  The dealer was not doing test drives at this time.  My highway travel is typically 70mph; the old XC250 was entering redline at 65mph so I didn't go faster than 65 on the XC250.
I am sure that the 400i can do 70 without redlining (the XC500 redlines at 75-78mph), but I wanted to know what speed red line was on the Xtown.  Even more interestingly, there was no indication of red line on the tachometer, even though it went all the way to 10,000rpm.  They said they would make some calls to find out; I will keep you posted if they are able to come through on the information.

No storage box options are available for either bike at this time, unless you're comfortable with building your own mounting plates; the grab bar/trunk mount assemblies on both bikes are different from the previous Xciting grab bars/trunk mounts.  The Xtown grab bar had what looked like a flat platform which might be suitable for repurposing, for this, but the 400i did not.

Redline for the Xtown 300i is at 65mph per the dealer.  Same as the Xciting 250.

I have an old 2012 300i and it has no red line on the tact. I saw 85 mph on the clock the other day , VERY BRIEFLY, and it was just about 7500 rpms.. I figure that if the factory wanted me to roll out at 6500, they would have put a red line there. First time I've run it that fast, but a line of 18 wheelers were going to make me miss my exit. I rarely every cruise above 65 ~ 70.

The Downtown 300i motor is a completely different, and newer motor, than in the Xtown.   The Xtown motor is an evolution of the 250cc motor used in the Xciting 250, GrandVista, and Bet & Win.  The DT300i produces 29hp @ 299CC, while the Xtown 300i produces 23hp @ 276cc.

and there you have it. As I’ve said in the past the 300 is now a price point unit.
It looks great when one sees 3999.00.

As long as the rider has never rode a DT300 the Xtown may seem good. But it’s a shadow of the DT.

But... if you don't need to go faster than 65mph, the Xtown stomps on the Downtown and kicks it to the curb.  Plenty of power up to 65mph, ABS up front, better mileage/range, and LEG ROOM.  The XC250, which weighs the same as the Xtown, was fine up to 65mph (top speed was 75mph, with the tall windshield and 270lbs of rider and accessories), and the Xtown has even more oomph.  I can totally understand why Kymco discontinued the Dt300i.

The DT300i is the ONLY engine unit that is an honest 299 cc with, hmmmmm, more than adequate performance, quite reliable (several Kymco models have congenital troubles) and very good customer loyalty. THEY expect ME to swallow another "300" that has ONLY 273 cc and a PALTRY 23 hp just because it has ABS on the front only (half of what should be)??? Cold day in Singapore, mate! Will NOT part with my sweetie even with her warts for that. Bet the regulator-rectifier is the same part that eats stators! Nope. No way. Out.

If I didn’t need to go faster than 65 I don’t need a almost maxi, and that’s what the Xtown is.
Many other better choices for city scoots. I’ve ridden both plus the 400 and if you want a  ride capable of more than surface roads youll need the 400 to do the job of the old 300.

Here’s what the designers were looking for, $3999.00 and it’s not haveing the DT for lunch.
Why? Because on the way I’ll hit the highway and the xtown will have a hard time with that 70mph merge. I put 10,000 on a Downtown and many of those miles the new xtown won’t do.

Always been a kymco fan but this isn’t their best work.
Of course ya can’t tell if you haven’t ridden them.

I don't understand what the problem is.  If you want a bike that's touring capable, like the old Dt300i, you can pick up an Xciting 400i, which is almost the same price as the Dt300i, has 7 more hp, front and rear ABS, and dual front disc brakes.  The only thing not to like is the windshield - but then again, you have enough leg room that you won't need to install driver footpegs (which is a much bigger pain in the ass than replacing the windshield).  Seriously, NOBODY would buy a new Dt300i with the Xciting 400i at dealers.

The Xtown is competing in the same space as the Honda Forza (there are some things the Forza does differently, and some things the Xtown does better), not the old Dt300i.  This is why I made the caveat about not caring above 65mph; the Xtown will probably be able to maintain that on all but the steepest of hills.

Hopefully in the spring the dealer will have some test drives.  I've only had the Forza for a few days and miss a lot of the convenience features on the Xciting that Kymco got right.

I didn’t realize Honda was giving away Forzas. Last I looked they were just shy of 6k with dest charge.
An Xtown a hair over 4K otd. Not seeing where they compete directly except now both have a less than impressive power plant.

Sure I can buy a 400 to do what the old 300 did. Huh?
