Hello Ivor and welcome to the jungle. You picked a fine scoot to come back on. I love mine and there is only two things I would like to have on it and that is ABS and a parking brake. Otherwise it runs and performs flawlessly. Hope your DT will be good for you as well.

Thanks for the welcome both. I am UK based so have a UK spec machine on the way. In my 70s I decided that a scooter was the way to go. Had many bikes over the years, Jap, BMW, MZ etc, but this will be my first scooter.

Dealer is relacing back brake disk for me as it came an advisory on the MOT so my ride home is delayed but I would rather get it done now......at the dealers expense.

Hey Ivor, I happen to be in London, as I type this. Just got back from Paris, last night.
I've never seen so many scooters and small cc bikes. This is awesome. I'm still trying to find a dealer, so I can take a look around. So many more choices, than in the states.I'll be here for 3 more days, I will keep looking.
Cheers,

Rich

At last got the Downtown a couple of days ago and have had a couple of rides out on it so far, including the 55 mile trip home on day one.

I am still getting used to an automatic after years of clutched bikes. What to do with your feet and left hand for brake and not changing gear but I am sure I will get better. Last auto I had was a 45cc Mobylette with centrifugal clutch back in the 1960s when I was still at school.

Anyway first impressions are "I like it". Runs easily, keeps up with traffic and on a nice sunny like the last two it is fun to be on.

Welcome, Ivor! You will learn to adore that machine! I like many started decades ago on motorcycles and adopted the modern scooter. Even restored a 1955 BSA 650! The DT300i is probably one of the best of the maxi-scoot wannabee's available in the world. You may get saddle sore but you should be happy! I can see you now, like yesteryear the central character gets all outfitted in his Barbour suit, leather helmet and goggles, climbs aboard his faithful thumper to head off to confer with Churchill about the next phase of saving the Empire from the Huns! 'Cept it will be YOU on your 300!
