Fathers Day ride before the heat of the day
« on: June 19, 2017, 08:07:24 PM »
We are having a heat wave. Yesterday my patio thermometer showed 109 degrees. It's going to be hot all week with temps near 100! Yesterday I got up with the sun and rode before the extreme heat kicked in. This year's rains gave us full reservoirs. People are out fishing again. I saw several fathers with their kids fishing. Sure miss my dad. Here's a few pictures of one of the reservoirs I stop at on my ride.

Don't know why the orientation of the pictures are 90 degrees off. The orientation on the preview screen shows the orientation to be correct.

Update: Fixed issue :)

100+ degrees -- pshaw...
With that big momma you aught to be able to get the wind-chill down to 65 degrees!
Trout, does that have a dip stick, or a viewing window; and is it aircooled?
I was hoping when watching the news that all that rain was alleviating your drought .
Thanks for the pix!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

As far as I know there is only one Harley that is water cooled (the V-Rod) and all the rest are air cooled. Actually they have a few more models you can now get it on. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/motorcycles/a3148/liquid-cooled-harley-engines-for-2014/

Echo and ditto. Nice Sportster. I have own several and they are fun rides. Awesome sound. You are correct MJR, however the EPA is more than likely to cause HD to put water-cooled engines on all their bikes, as the very lean burn that is required to reach EPA requirements has caused several heat related problems in the "block Head" engine currently in production. Because of HD,s unique knife and fork rod and crank arrangement, the rear cylinder is directly behind the front cylinder. (No offset as found in other V twins with separate rod throws on the crank). HD's set-up is what produces the beautiful "potato, potato" sound, however, rear cylinder cooling has always been a throne in their side. Guess I'd better leave it at this, as their are folks on this site that really don't care to hear about Harleys..Pushing my luck here.

Hmmm. I always thought it was more of a 'HomoHomoHomoHomo' sound.

The new Street 500 and 750 (including Street Rod) are liquid cooled as well.

Wind chill would be nice, but it was so hot that at best I could make it feel like 100 degrees. No liquid cooled here just air although one could argue the oil does play a roll in cooling the engine. They do have Love Jugs for cooling. Not cheap at over $350.

Love it! Completely different ride then the scooter, not better, just different. Sunday I went to the HD dealer cause my kids got me a gift card. Had to buy some bling for the bike. While there I saw my old Like on the side of the building. Come to find out it was purchased by one of the mechanics. A big burly guy with a beard.
