Polini high Speed - Kymco Super 8 4 stroke
« on: April 26, 2017, 08:42:34 AM »
I`m about to install this in my scooter but noticed that the drive boss i 39mm long compared to 38mm of the Kymco original drive boss. This I guess means that I will get 1mm less splines to use on the crankshaft. As I can see there is already a tight fit with the 38mm boss so I am worried that I will strip the splines when using the longer drive boss.

Can I use the Polini kit with my stock boss?

I would like to buy a performance variator also. The only thing stopping me is that I dont know if I should use the stock boss or the boss that come with the new variator.

Also do you use the stock belt or d oyou need to buy a different one thats made of kevlar?

I have it installed and looking at the the 39mm boss it was to long.  It was covering some of the splines.  So I used the Kymco 38mm smooth boss that came with my scooter.  I also noticed that the rollers were the same weight so I may look into going with a 6 gram roller depending on how things go.  Both the Polini and stock rollers were 6.9 grams

Am going to have my first ride this morning with it to work.  Will let you know how it goes.

So my scooter goes a little faster on the flat.  I did use the stock variator.  I am accelerating faster but I think I need lighter rollers.  I am going to try 6gr I think.
I am still using the stock belt.  I did upgrade the exhaust as well. I will need to up my main jet now as well.  It is currently an 82.  Guy at the shop recommended going to a 92 with the new exhaust.
