Dead battery ?
« on: March 30, 2017, 01:51:56 AM »
Went to the garage today to start my GT. It turned over real slow and would not start.
It has been on a tender when parked.
All connections seemed tight.
Battery time?.

Battery tenders are low current. I'd put a real charge on it and check it again if not then it's battery time.

boo, if there is a Harbor Freight Tools store near you, you can get a 'float" charger for $4.99 with a coupon. It cannot overcharge. I've used them for years on all my small engine stuff. Got 7 years of of a lawn tractor battery with one . Unheard of. For what it's worth.

I think four years is a pretty good and acceptable timespan for a cheap chinese noname motorcycle battery. I would not expect them to live so much longer than that.
As a replacement I would seriously think about a LiFePo4 from Shido or similar quality products. They are absolutely maintanance free. No battery charger/tender needed. Install it, ride it, smile and be happy. My Shido is doing its job flawlessly every time for over 2 years now without taking any care. 3 years warranty by the way.
Cheers,
Robo

Most likely your battery Boo. Certainly would not hurt to replace it just as a preventative maintenance issue.

That is what I have used for years. I have used them on a motorcycle and two motor scooters for years without problems. That is the reason I think the battery is kapunk.

I did mjr but, i`ll never have faith in the battery again. All things considered, I think it might be a good idea to go ahead and put a new one in so I won`t get stranded.

Motobatt are Chinese but better than most.

I was actually referring to Motocross batteries, Yuasa's private label same battery.

https://www.batterystuff.com/blog/motocross-vs-yuasa-which-is-the-better-motorcycle-battery-.html

Given the choice I always choose Yuasa/Motocross AGM batteries!
After that Deka AGM
If no other option, I'd then get a Motobatt.
