seat won't unlock

HELP!!!
I can NOT get my seat to unlock. How can I get it unlocked? I have found it impossible as yet. I tried for 2 hours uneventfully and am ready to trash this scooter.
I am frustrated beyond belief and need to get this thing open.
ANY help is appreciated.

A little more info - please.
New scoot, or old?
Wrecked, tipped, damaged?
Any hint this was about to happen during recent openings of the seat? Was it getting harder to open?
Is it possible cable is broken or stretched .... or can you hear it trying to unlatch?
Tried pressing hard directly over latch while second person works key?

  you know the ignition is where the cable starts that opens the seat , can you get to the back of the ignition ,. on my down town 300i  I can take the front off and open the seat,. if you are young maybe you can reach up under the dash and pull on the cable,.    I like to see what I am doing,. and I am old, and cant bend very well,.
