Dr Pulley sliders NO GOOD!
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:22:17 PM »
Well I wanted to like them what with all the loose talk around these parts ---but.... here's the problem: THEY DON'T LAST!!!!! I changed out the factory rollers after around 2 years of happy, paper crunching noise -free riding. Well I can report that after a mere 7 months of riding the sliders that the paper crunching noise is back - and its WORSE THAN EVER. sorry about the caps shouting but I'm a little frustrated that after all that work the sliders only lasted 1/2 a year.

I ordered OEM rollers, brake pads, and a key spare from this place, with FREE shipping:

Chaparral Motorsports

I highly recommend it over kymco rip-off monster--where they actually have the balls to charge 20 bucks for shipping

Why some people have good luck with sliders and others do not. Most say the washers have to be installed in a certain way to prevent problems.
I installed Dr Pulley sliders about 3000 miles ago. So far, no problems.

I installed stock weight Dr sliders and couldn't be happier. Can't say how many miles ago that was, but 2-3 thousand anyway. Yes I know, not a lot of miles but when you have 5 bikes licensed the Kymco has to wait it's turn to run up miles. I have hard numbers to show a marked improvement in acceleration, not just seat of the pants. Did the same with my  SYM HD200 but had no change in performance.

I've had mine in for about 3500 miles with no problems. The increased performance made it a no-brainer for me.

I have tried sliders and rollers. I went back to rollers. Sliders felt better but in real world tests did not perform better. The ramps are designed for round things. The scooters were engineered for round things. If you disagree with me that's fine, just don't be dissing my motor oil!  ;)

Strongly agree. The Dr Pulley sliders work better with the Dr Pulley variation.  Matching shapes!
I ordered the 14 gram 20×12 round rollers. Can't wait to see how they perform with a Zard exhaust.

Yep. If you look at the Dr. Pulley video, the variator is not a stock one. It is a Dr. Pulley that is designed for the sliders. Kind of misleading.

I guess...but have Dr Pulley sliders in my Kymco and new Burgman 400...with stock cvt parts....work just fine.
Have not seen a dealer selling these sliders that mentions a problem using stock cvt parts.  Nor recall any forum mentions in Honda...Burgman sites stating the need for buying Dr Pulley variator in order to make the slide weights work without problems in a stock cvt.
Most just add these weights and button it up with good results.
I have.

They worked fine for me too Stig. Just not overall as well as the Dr. Pulley round weights I put in. The sliders "felt" better but in objective testing did not perform better, for me anyway.

Heck, I put some stock weight ones in my S200 and the difference was notable.
Just going to get around to pulling them for a peek and a housing cleaning in the next week or so, but they went a long way towards killing the dead spot in acceleration along with fatter jetting.
Overall I'm a fan, at least on the S200, the other similar scoot I've worked on was the HD200 which was fine with the stock rollers, so can't say there.

I reported elsewhere on this forum that my sliders melted, and the outer variator face on my 500 stripped it's spline, so I will be staying away from them from now on.
I have ordered a malossi sports variator instead, and I will report my findings after a bit of a test.

Let's us know how you find that Multivar 2000. I would be interested to see the performance difference.

I cant seem to find the thread anywhere. How did the Multivar work compared to the OEM?
