In a nearly empty tank moisture and water in the fuel can cause problems - rust in tank.
Even though steel tanks have some kind of protective lining in them over the years rust can develop. Had that happen in my motorcycle tank, used a POR15 kit to fix it.

Got some before and after pictures if anybody is interested.

Very common issue on motorcycles due to long term sitting over the winter months. If I am not going to use something over the winter I always give the fuel a good dose of fuel conditioner before storing, then add fresh fuel in the spring to get them running...so far so good!!  Probably will never have that issue with the 450i as I am using it at least 3 out of 5 days each week if only to take a ride around the neighborhood all year long..

I use only non Ethanol gas with Stabil  in all my small engines and old jeep and I run battery tenders on all batteries for 2 hrs each day on each battery. I have batteries that are 5-7 years old. Just my .02

Check at any Marina, most have it because the ethanol likes to absorb water and causes a lot of problems for marine engines. A bit pricey but cheaper in the long run, for my $$$.

So dead battery issues acting up again. Had it on a battery maintainer for the last 2 weeks. Started up fine but then shut it off and wouldn't start. Anyone know of a deep cycle utv battery that will fit?

Keep in mind it is quite possible that your battery was severly hurt when it ran down in the beginning. These batteries are not designed to be dropped below a certain percent of charge and if they do they never recover except for extremely short periods of time. Then again you may just have a bummer battery. If you have a good electrical shop in your area ( alternator/generator rebuilder) they should be able to load test the battery.  Actually they are not that expensive to buy a new one, keep the receipt and if it goes out you can always take it back. Beginning to sound like a battery that has been run down to far, many lesser expensive auto batteries will do the same thing, NO battery likes to be taken all the way down..it will kill them.  Keep us posted

I'm not sure what type of battery. I know it's 310 cca. I'll look at the battery as soon as I have a chance
