Except for a very few teeth left at the site where I installed the belt, this is ALL that remains of the old belt. I installed the new one yesterday, and rode around town for 50 miles.

How would I be able to tell if the Bearings or something else was causing too much heat? The wheel turns smoothly. And the small bearings in the clutch housing turn easily as well. Would it be obvious?

So far so good with the new belt. But I admit that I'm a little paranoid, especially given the fact that neither the original or the Bando belt the old belt gave any warning. And the Bando belt looked good as recently as 6 days before it shredded. Will not venture any further than work until the spare belt arrives. Then it will be my constant companion. Any trips will include the extra belt and the battery operated impact, along with something to remove the cords of the old belt from the clutch pulley

I don't know where you bought your Bando belt. ...but have read several times to beware of belts on ebay being counterfeit Bandos....Gates.....  etc.
Also, early on here read that an issue with the Kevlar belts is that when they do break they can destroy other CVT parts when they go......all of which convinced me to stay with genuine Kymco belts.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

you may be right. I found several articles and a You tube posting concerning fake belts being sold as name brand. I know my Kymco OE belt came in a bag with Kymco writing on it. But I can't recall the Bando belt being in anything other than the shipping box. The video said that it should have come in either a bag or a sleeve. I'll post a link later to the place where I ordered it.

The Mechanic at the dealer said that Bando is a decent belt and is used as OE on many scooters especially the smaller ones. So I strongly suspect that it was counterfeit.

Also, the Kymco belt has a directional arrow. But the Bando did not. Don't know if it was supposed to or not.
Anyway. KYMCO ONLY for critical parts.

I'm on my 3rd stock belt with the previous 2 lasting to the 12,500 mile change interval. I'm thinking about exceeding the limit on the one I'm riding now just to see how far it will go.
