Xciting 250 losing power??
« on: August 24, 2015, 12:21:31 AM »
I have a 2007 Xciting 250 ,carburated, that has lost thottle response. It will slowly build speed up to about 50mph. 7000 rpm. This is my daily commuter, and until about 4 weeks ago, the Xciting had quick thottle and could cruise highway speed with no problem. It could run 75 mph at 8000rpm with ease. Now it's very sluggish and gets to 6800 rpm, maybe 50mph. I have replaced plug, air cleaner, run high grade fuel and carb cleaner for a few weeks now, no help.  Owned this since new in 08, about 10,000 miles on it. Any suggestions??

Sounds like the rollers are bad, and possible the belt also. Open that up and have a look.

I did have the belt replaced last year. I'll open it up and check it and the rollers

This happened to me before with my b&w250. Try checking your ignition coil it might be failing, giving weak spark it can contribute to power loss.

Coil seems to be the issue.

Turned out to be a carburator issue. Ethonol damage.
