What would you do 2007 200s
« on: May 12, 2015, 03:45:09 AM »
Tested a 2007 200s today and liked it but... not sure the woman selling it is telling it all straight. Bike is 2 owner and she and "a friend" bought it with less than 50 miles on it in 2008. Now has 1653 and no documentation of ANY service being done. It started fine (cold) and ran great. I was impressed with acceleration and braking. The body looks brand new. Lady (late 60's?) says her friend runs it around the block every few weeks, but they just replaced battery recently. I doubt it has ever been back to the shop for valves and may have original oil in it; I forgot to look :(  She wants $1250.

Have been riding smaller dual sports the last 6 years and still have a Suzuki DR650. I dropped it recently and could NOT pick it up. At 68 with bad discs everywhere and a torn rotator cuff, I need to downsize. I live in rural Colorado front range and just want it for local back roads cruising and maybe some Forest Service roads which is why I've been looking at the larger wheeled Kymcos. Any thoughts? I know local prices vary, but how much for dealer service w/ oil changes and valve adjustment. Tires look good, but are 7 years old. How long are belts good for?

Take a look at the oil dipstick to check color of oil or you can ask where she had the service done an call them. You can have her meet you at a shop and let a mechanic look at it (maybe for a fee) and decide from there

Thanks for your reply; I asked about records of maintainece and she just played dumb, but taking it to the shop (only one in town) makes sense.

I'm very late here but the price is good IMO, I have over 3K miles on mine and never touched the valves or anything other then to change the oil, she starts and runs well all the time.

FWIW the valve adjustment is very easy, even for the not-so-mechanicly-inclined.  The hardest part is getting all the plastic off.

Tough to say, he hasn't been active since.
Not a bad scoot, but I'd update the 9 year old tires, & maybe swap out the rollers for sliders.
