Anyone have one and what would you suggest?

I would like a DYI project if possible.

DIY.  Put the cup on the floorboard and don't hit any bumps.  I didn't have my RAM mount cup holder with me last week and made it across town with a soda on the floor.

As Johnson alluded to, a ram mount holder would be your best bet.
Build a man a fire and you keep him warm for a day.  Set a man on fire and you keep him warm for the rest of his life.

I have a Kymco beer can cooler in the compartment at the front of the seat.  It is held in place by the screw centered in the back with a washer.  Open the compartment, insert can or small drink.  When not in use it folds back to allow the compartment to hold other items.  And of course the door closes to hide it from thieving hands if I am not with the bike.  Won't hold a Big Gulp, but then we don't have 7 elevens in Alaska.

I tried the Ram Mount thing and its just not feasible.

I unscrewed the hook in the middle console and replaced it with a bicycle drink holder. Its adjustable. Be careful when removing the hook or you will have to remove the whole plastic peice. you'll see.

You guys must get stuck in some huge traffic jams.
I never have time to screw around off of the bars.
Carry my drinks under the seat in a fast food drink 'carrier'.
