Just in case anyone reads this   I had a People 250S purchased new in 08 I ended up totaling it in 14 striking an Elk in Arkansas on May 05, The scooter had 48,000 miles on it then I was ready to take it on a cross country tour but that ended and I still haven't found a good replacement for it.  I am currently enjoying my wifes hand me down Grand vista with 31,000 miles on it she put most of them on it.

De De I did try out both and sorry I just don't fit either one the GTI scoot sucks, The european version would have been perfect for me but the sporty model just doesn't have the potential to tour that I require.  First I can't comfortably put my feet on the floorboard they shrunk the distance between the front of the engine compartment and the front well.  So there goes the ability to carry items luggage etc. Then they put the fuel tank in the "met in box" I love that term by the way.. Which took away a ton of usable space you know the main reason to choose a scooter over a motorcycle.  Then for touring since the space is gone you will undoubtedly put you cargo on the seat behind you but every time you stop for fuel you need to remove your load and open the seat then repack everything.  Really boneheaded design...

The updated Grand Vista I'm sorry the downtown 300 We nearly bought one for my wife but went with the Honda Forza instead the Honda has not impressed me it has to be about the most bare bones product on the market.  But the overall cost of ownership is pretty low compared to the Downtown We put miles on our scooters and the 7-8,000 mile oil change schedule because of a spin on oil filter instead of the pain in the ass and overpriced internal strainer filter arrangement of the Kymco and it's 1,000 KM schedule made the decision for us.  23.00 for the internal filter and up to 10.00 a quart for either Amsoil or Mobil 1 4t and you are out over $30.00 for an oil change every 1000 miles in our case or She put right on 7,000 miles on the scooter this year and 1 oil change we went with Amsoil oil and a Purelator purt one filter 2 qts at 9.50 and the filter at 6.00 and we are at 25.00 in stead of  $230.00 it sometimes is a matter of economics.

So to sum up a windy reply we really prefer the Kymco product it rocks but they need to really take a look at the larger / maxi scooter market and address the needs there better..  On the other hand I did like the power of the 300 and getting rid of the auto by starter for fuel injection Wow what took so long!

We've had one hard freeze (below 32 for 4 hours), and that was about 6 weeks ago. Right now it's 40*f at 1:13am

It'll be 60 something today. I'll put on my long PJ's tonight. Maybe a shot of Whiskey before bed...

20000 + kilometers on my people 250. Bought it used with 13000 kilometers, a new rear tire and a fresh oil change for 400 bucks. Oil has been changed once since then, soon to be twice. Just got back from a week @ N. Myrtle beach. 2 1/2 hour ride. Walked like a cowboy for fifteen minutes upon arrival but it was fun. No mods, all OEM. So dependable, so fun, so many 50 cc rental scooters to casually dominate.
